Jeg nevner under at vi valgte å flytte til et annet hotell selv om vi hadde betalt på forhånd. Bildene som ligger på nett er veldig fine, men virkeligheten stemmer ikke. Vi var inne og kikket på rommene vi hadde fått og de så bra ut- virket som de var nylig pusset opp og kunne gjerne bodd der, men dessverre er det ikke bare rommet som teller når man er på ferie.
Jeg skal være ærlig og si at vi fant et annet hotell. Bildene på Booking.com forteller dessverre ikke hvordan hotellet er. Vi var to par på tur og hadde sett de flotte bildene som lå ute på nett. Dessverre stemte ikke dette med virkeligheten. Resepsjonsområdet var nedslitt og stranden utenfor hotellet var ikke til å kjenne igjen på bildene som lå ute. Bildene viser flott basseng flotte solsenger - dessverre var det veldig få senger og hele uteområdet virket nedslitt og til dels forfallent.
The only thing to like was the location to the safe swimming area on the beach.
The scruffy staff…the receptionist looked like she had just finished her housework. She was certainly not in the least bit welcoming. We were delayed arriving, by about 8 hours, through no fault of ours, but Emirates Airways, so we were very tired, but excited to reach our destination. (I had notified the hotel about our late arrival being about 20:00 hours, instead of the planned time 12:00 lunchtime….)
There was insufficient number of sun beds to the guests staying there, and when we looked out from our balcony at about 7:00 am, next morning, they were already covered with towels!!
Both bedside lamps did not work, and were covered in dust ( other people’s dead skin !!) the room and bathroom looked really unkempt, and not at all like the pictures on line!! The windows desperately needed cleaning, and the blinds cleaned or thrown away and replaced with new ones. We were told there was a small fridge, there was not! All in all, the whole hotel should have been renewed years ago, and the staff trained to be welcoming and at least polite.
We would certainly not recommend this hotel as it stands right now, a super, prime position in the best family area around.
We went in for breakfast next morning, which was supposedly buffet style, but was also very un inviting, and not hosted by friendly staff. I felt we were in the way, not wanted. We were then approached by a member of staff to say we had to pay for this pathetic breakfast …7000LKR. We paid, very reluctantly, and said we would not be staying here. So much more I could say, but this hotel is certainly not worth the cost, or the effort it would take me to put into writing what it really needs.

Maintenance is a bit in the low side. How ever they were on a renevation during the period of our visit. Hope there will be a good face lift to the building. Room conditions were fairly good. All the said amenities were there. You must bring round pin adaptors for device charging purposes which is one negative point noted in rooms.

A wonderful stay – I recommend it!
The room was beautiful and very clean, and the bathroom was also modern and well-maintained. The food at the hotel was excellent – there's something for everyone. The surrounding area really impressed me – gorgeous beaches, stunning sunsets, and incredible underwater life: we encountered sharks, crabs, colorful fish, and turtles! It's the perfect place to relax and connect with nature. I'd love to come back!

I was walking the beach just looking for somewhere to sit and have a bite. It is off season and so many places were closed to had very minimal services.
At the Hikkaduwa Beach Hotel, Maleesha, Sudesh and Wihangi were very welcoming, they let me sit at my ease for a while, I had an refreshing juice and chef Umindu made me the best Pakora I've had in 4 weeks in Srilanka. The washrooms were clean and I didn't feel rushed even if I wasn't a hotel guest.
They did ask for this review which I find in bad taste but I can't deny the service and food were great and I will go back if i come back to Hikkaduwa.

To sum up our stay, the staff accommodated us exceptionally well, even though we checked in after 11 PM. We truly appreciated that Ms. Sasini, the manager, stayed to welcome us with a warm smile and assisted us with all our room requests. As well as, the staff who served our breakfast, she even greet us for our Anniversary. (i forgot to take her name)
We also want to thank Umindu, who patiently gave us a room tour to help us choose the best room based on our preferences. This experience made us very happy and left a lasting impression.
It clearly reflects the kindness, hospitality, and helpful nature of the Sri Lankan people — going above and beyond to make guests feel welcome.
Breakfast was great! We were full and satisfied thanks to the wide variety of options available. We chose the International breakfast since we were concerned the Sri Lankan food might be too spicy for our taste. That said, we do believe the Sri Lankan breakfast is likely excellent for those who enjoy that cuisine!
The location is fantastic, right in front of the beach — perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view.
The facade of the hotel could definitely be improved. It’s clear from the outside that the building facing the ocean needs a fresh coat of paint, as it looks a bit worn out and dirty maybe because of the sea salt that make it look like molds.. However, the interior is well-maintained and clean, which was a pleasant contrast.
