Tired accommodation. Needs attention for the price paid
Pros:

The view from our bedroom and breakfast

Cons:

Our upgraded Biskey room (105) was tired, walls were scuffed with piant peeling on the feature wall. Photo on the website only a 'representation' of this type of room, so the actual room was not was expected. Carpets stained with seams coming undone. Shortage of staff and atmosphere. restaurant only available to book in advance .Water in the room only provided on first day. Placement of furniture needs some changes as tricky for drying hair near a mirror. 'Health club' facilities limited ( small pool, jacuzzi and relaxation room) charged at £25 per couple. Parking a nightmare. Guests not guaranteed a space as it is used for public paid parking and guests have to take pot luck for parking. Plus each day guests have to log into the app and pay each day, unable to book for our 4 day stay.

We had an enjoyable stay.
Pros:

An impressive building. It was very clean . Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was buffet style, with everything one could possibly want - excellent

Cons:

The hotel was located up a very steep hill, which we did not expect - difficult for over 80’s.!
For a four-star hotel I would normally expect little “extras”, e.g. shower cap, body lotion, etc.
We thought the room layout was strange. The TV was positioned above the foot of the bed, blocking the light from the window and view.
A booklet showing places of local interest, nearby restaurants, etc would have been helpful.

Cons:

The hotel has turned the car park into public parking so we arrived with a baby and weren’t able to park despite parking being advertised - the parking has surge pricing so it is more expensive when busier! The whole hotel felt like a money grabbing scheme. We were then told by a staff member whilst there with a crying baby ‘if you turned up to sainsburys and there was no parking would you complain?’. Also, the room we were given was completely not child friendly, up a narrow staircase with no lift.
We have stayed at the hotel 5 times and will not be returning again.

Pros:

location was excellent, fantastic views from terrace. The Breakfast was buffet but food was very good and staff were very helpful, room was adequate for a short stay,

Cons:

there was a charge for parking at the hotel and no discount for residents, where other hotels don't charge for parking. The lifts have a lot to be desired, very rattle and creaky not for the faint hearted :-)

It was OK for a last minute booking.
Pros:

Comfy bed, clean room/bathroom, really good shower, staff very nice. Breakfast yogurt very nice.

Cons:

No view at all from room 212 (brick wall), hallway near lifts smelt awful (old damp smell), wall in lift lobby needed painting in parts, lift was rickety and noisey when in use and glass/mirror panels looked dirty/smeared glass. Cooked beakfast was really nice but wasn't hot enough which let it down. Parking should be included in price as daily rate not cheap.
