Our experience at OYA Hotel in Redwood Falls, MN was completely unacceptable and unlike any hotel stay we have experienced before.
Upon arrival, the property appeared poorly maintained. The main lobby and hallways had no air conditioning, making the building extremely uncomfortable. As we walked to our room, we saw multiple notices posted throughout the property stating that areas had been deemed unsafe by the fire marshal. As paying guests, seeing safety-related warnings posted around the hotel was alarming and immediately raised concerns about the condition of the property.
When we approached management to discuss these concerns and request a refund, the situation escalated quickly. Rather than addressing our concerns professionally, the manager became argumentative and repeatedly raised his voice. During the conversation, he repeatedly asked whether I could read English and insisted that the fire marshal notice clearly explained why the property had been deemed unsafe. However, neither we nor the responding police officer could find a specific reason listed on the notice itself.
The manager’s comments were disrespectful, humiliating, and completely inappropriate. Instead of treating customers with professionalism and courtesy, he chose to belittle us and turn a reasonable request for clarification into a confrontation. The fact that comments were made that appeared to reference our race, ethnicity, or ability to understand English only made the interaction more disturbing.
What should have been a simple conversation about safety concerns became an unpleasant and hostile experience. Between the condition of the property, the safety warnings posted throughout the hotel, and the treatment we received from management, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Travelers looking for a safe, comfortable, and professionally managed place to stay should consider other options.

We didn't bother even checking in. We pulled in to a building that looked like it belonged on the set of some sort of dystopian, post-collapse movie set. the reviews we read I took with a grain of salt and that proved to be a poor decision. Actual blatent drug use and drinking in the parking lot, peeling paint from top to bottom and no sign of any sort of upkeep. It very literally looked like an abondoned property.

We pulled up and thought we should probably just find somewhere else but we were running late and needed to get to our event. The outside appears in disarray however, I believe they are in transition of ownership and repairs. The air conditioning unit cover was taped on to wall base and did fall off. There were cracks between the window casing and wall where we could see insulation. The window was unlocked at time of check in. The bed was clean, bathroom was clean. The remainder of the room left much to be desired. I wore socks/hubby wore shoes until we climbed into bed, due to carpet appearance. We did check for bedbugs - NONE noted. Bedskirt was stained, end tables were gross - I wiped them down with wet washcloth that turned grey. NO mold in the bathroom which was a plus and it was decent. Parking lot and grass had many discarded beer bottles and garbage lying around. I never did see the Front Desk person throughout our stay. Hubby checked in and he talked to someone. Overall, we got a clean bed/shower/toilet. Not worth what they charged us to have our two small dogs who are well trained in the room ($30 PER dog for one night and they stay in a kennel). The lobby is nice, the remainder of the hotel needs some serious repairs. Won't stay here again and probably will bypass any OYO property in the future.

This place is a health hazard. It looks abandoned. It’s filthy. Mold, stains, junk piled in the pool area. We had 2 nights reserved and they refused to cancel and refund our second night despite it being a complete dump. The owner is a slum lord. We left without a refund and stayed elsewhere. AVOID THIS PLACE!!! Truly the most disgusting hotel I’ve ever seen let alone entered. How it’s not condemned truly amazes me! I will be notifying Health officials it was that bad!
Walking on the carpet made my white socks look like I walked outside in the dirt. There are truly no words to describe how bad this place is! It absolutely looks like a zombie apocalypse inside and outside of this place. The spider webs in the stairwell were huge! Just do not give this place a dime. It’s unsafe and unsanitary.
