Airport shuttle worked as planned, ideal arriving in a city I didn't know in the middle of the night. £13.
Nothing to dislike, it's a big and spread out city so it's long walks, or very cheap taxis
The hotel rooms are spacious and generally comfortable. However, communication can be quite challenging as the staff do not speak English, which makes it difficult for international guests. Housekeeping is only available upon request and usually takes place quite late in the afternoon (after 4 pm). Even then, the service is limited to providing fresh towels, and other essentials such as soap need to be specifically requested. During our three-night stay, the bed sheets were not changed.
The breakfast buffet was also below expectations. Although it is advertised until 10:00 am, items were cleared away before that time, even while guests were still dining. On one occasion, I asked for another cup of tea just before 10:00 am but was told service had ended.
On a positive note, the hotel’s location is very convenient. However, due to the service shortcomings, I would likely consider other options if visiting Astana again.
Liked the free parking option just next to hotel. liked basically everything. SPA is good option, even the rules were a bit strict and strange. Never tried restaurant as it was even booked for some event or just closed. Downstairs pub was good, though. Overall: great option in very good location actually.
alltogether it was a good stay. the room was big, the bed was comfortable and the staff at the reception desk very helpful. two comments though : I landed in Astana at 4 am and I asked the hotel whether I could check in earlier and pay - their only answer was " your booking allows you to check in at 2 pm - " well, I knew that already and I clearly indicated I was prepared to pay for the additional half day - they never answered. so I had to find an emergency solution when I landed at 4 am - I managed with my family but the hotel answer was clearly not professional.
then, I booked this particular hotel because it had a swimming pool. However, to access the pool, you need to pay an additional 15 euros (10 000 tenge)! it is very expensive so I did not do it and I could never swim. the marketign is somehow..not correct I think. so, it was OK but I will not go again under the same conditions.
All good
Very good location. Hotel average for a four star. I am not sure if I will book it again. The swimming pool and spa is not part of the hotel as I thought. You pay for these facilities.
The only reason I chose this hotel was the proximity to my point of visit. Almost all features and amenities matched good 3-star hotel level. Architecture and design (as in all Astana) is embarrassing though (be careful at slippery bathroom wall tiles put on the main entrance floor, this is a signature "style" in Kazakhstan). Breakfast was generous and featured Kazakh national desserts and unique 5-grain porridge. But main disappointment was almost non-existent Wi-Fi, so I had to spend a lot of time at neighboring McDonald's to communicate for business. A major hassle for international guests who rely on internet phones and emails. Are you kidding me, Zhumbaktas Hotel?
We were extremely unhappy with our stay here.
1. It was cold in the room and we couldn’t use the heater, because it doesn’t work during summer time. Reception doesn’t have clue about it, and they were just telling us turn on AC for heat and wait 10 mins.
2. On the reception in the evening there was a random drunk person from the street. There are no any security there.
3. In the hotel restaurant they did not remember the whole order… We were waiting until we asked, and they were like.. “Did you order fish??”.. Of course, after waiting for an hour for the fish, we just decided to cancel it.
That was the worst experience in the luxury hotel we had. Honestly, I do not understand why this hotel considered as luxury… I do not recommend anyone to stay here.
The promised city view turned out to be a view on a wall. Wifi was spotty and restricted, The swimming pool was available for 10000 tenge. Breakfast buffet was basic and not really delicious or nutritious consisting of porridge, sausages, mushrooms, chicken wings, and a limited choice of vegetables.
It is ok but poor room service.
The AC in the room was not working all of 4 days I stayed in this hotel.
The sauna, swimming pool and fitness center are very good
Stayed a week, choose this property for its proximity to my work site. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Staff were mildly helpful, very little English spoken but genuinely attempted to see to needs when they could. Room was VERY quiet given that it overlooked a busy street with many honking motorists. AC only worked some of the time.
The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located, however the staff leaves a lot to be desired. I booked this hotel for the free pool access only to find out that it costs extra unless you are in a “business” room. This was not advertised and I had to get Expedia involved. It does not look like the hotel has updated this tidbit. Another lack of professionalism displayed was housekeeping coming into my room without knocking. I was about to leave within 10 minutes and figured I should jump into the shower. When I came out, (in only a towel), I saw my door wide open, requiring me to go out into the hallway to close it. I then saw that there were two women fiddling around in my mini bar. I am not sure how they did not hear the shower running when they entered, but regardless, instead of excusing themselves for the misunderstanding, (which would have been completely excusable), they just looked at me and kept working as if I was in the way! I had to yell at them multiple times to get out until they finally got the hint. When I returned that night (after having put the “make up my room” sign on the door, I noticed that they did not replace my towels that I had left on the floor for replacement. I unfortunately did not notice this until I was coming out of the shower and saw dirt on my towel as I was drying off. The bed was haphazardly put back together by just draping the comforter on top of the bed. Pillows were left on a chair. Location is great, staff is appalling.
Everything is good.
This hotel is well located in Astana. The rooms are spacious and clean and warm (luckily, because it was minus 25 outside)
There is a pleasant lobby/bar, but the bartenders don't speak English.
The reception is very good with skilled staff that speaks English very well. Especially Madiyar did everything he could to make our stay a succes! Thank you Madiyar, great job!
The breakfast is moderate, quality is okay, staff unfriendly.
The hotel says that there is a gym and pool, but this is a scam. The pool and gym is part of another neighbouring business and there is a whole procedure to get in there. in the spa/gym/pool they charge you for everything, even if you are a resident from the hotel: you have to pay for every step you take, every breath of air you take, you are charged. So the gym and pool is not accessible from the hotel unless you are willing to pay for every hair you lose on the ground.
I can recommend the hotel (apart from the facilities).
Stayed here for a week with my family. Hotel itself was nice and in a good location. Booked the family room which was big and nice. Breakfast and room service was good. All staff was pleasent and good. Spoke english well and very helpful. The confusion comes with the amentities. You have to have a pass from the front desk for the pool, gym, and everything. I booked and paid for 4 people. The hotel would only give passes for this for 2 people. Not as advertised. Not a child friendly hotel. Kids can not swim in the pool unless they are 13 years old. The pool, gym, and spa are different than hotel. Not easy to use. Have to get a pass and show passports to just use the gym or pool. For adults the hotel would be fine for just 2 people. For a family you need to look at another hotel. I paid a lot for these rooms and amentites and did not get what was advertised.
Rated 4 star, by who? Old, tired and at best 3 star.
No WIFI in room, decor a through back from the 80's.
Just not worth staying again.
There is an exhibition on, last minute booking never tp be repeated.
Nice hotel with good location and friendly staff. As regular client I would expect to have room with different view as opposite wall ;)
The location is good. There are a lot of dining options around. The hotel is clean. The amenities are great.
The only thing- after the first night I went to breakfast at 7 am and it was not ready till 7.30 am. The person who organized the breakfast either was late to his job or some other problems. Because of this I was late to my meetings in the city 3 hours drive away.
