Very unique historic building. Comfy bed and friendly staff. Good free breakfast. Just remember when you try to take a noon nap that the ghost organ comes alive on the hour every hour! Took us by surprise the first time! Pet friendly too.
The Courthouse is in the historic/older part of Powell River. Access is via outdoor stairs and the location isn’t what I expected. Our view was somewhat obscured by the old pulp mill. PR is a unique town with tons of history. Definitely worth a visit.
The room and bathroom were cramped and cluttered but clean. The bar fridge in the room cycled on and off loudly even when turned off. Unfortunately the plug was behind a heavy piece of furniture so not easily accessed. No live TV only streaming. Most disturbing was the swearing into a phone that took place in the alleyway between the hotel and I suspect a mental health accommodation at 9 pm, 3:30 am and then again at 6:50 am. Could hear it clearly as the bathroom window was kept open by a screen. Otherwise the area was very quiet at night. Just not good for sleeping. Great location for walking as very historic.
Comfortable bed, unique hotel but lots of stairs and brf was served late
The hotel was lovely and the breakfast was amazing! Only stayed one night but would definitely recommend.
Owner very obviously does not care about this super run down property. Best thing about it is the breakfast in the morning.
Also tried a scam we've seen in Europe of charging the credit card for random missing or damaged items well after we left. Charges ultimately reserved after complaint but not satisfactorily. Stay anywhere else.
Tiny room, but comfortable bed. Great included breakfast.
Charming historic boutique hotel. Lovely owner.
All of the ties to the town
Very friendly staff. Egg-cellent breakfasts!!!
This is an old building converted into a quasi Bed & Breakfast style Inn. Located in the Powell River historic/old section, it's about a 4km drive to the newer town area where all the typical services are offered. And while the Inn has charm & character, if our room was indicative, they all could use significant upgrading/renovating, ie, single pane/hard to open wood windows, bathroom towel rail detached from the wall, & the bathroom door didn't lock. Additionally, the included breakfast starts at 9am which is rather late. On the plus side, check in was easy, the king bed was comfortable & breakfast was tasty. Generally speaking, it's clean & comfortable but IMO 2.5 to 3 stars is the overall rating I would give it.
The restaurant and included breakfast was excellent. Wonderful service team. I will be back.
Loved the hotel, the room, and especially the delicious breakfast included in our stay! The room was well equipped and very comfortable, and the eclectic decor really made our wedding weekend feel special. It was exactly what we were hoping for! The only issue we had was that the hotel cafe was closed on Labour Day without any notice -- an issue especially since the breakfast was included in our fee. Such closures should be communicated to guests well in advance so we can prepare for a disruption in regular service.
Very unique property like stepping back in time
This is a quaint and cute older hotel. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I only stayed one night but would stay again. I did find a bug crawling on my sheets, but it wasn't a bedbug thankfully. Breakfast is provided but doesn't open until 9 am, and I had to leave earlier than that, so I missed out on that.
Definitely a charming old hotel, with lots of cool knick knacks in all the hallways.
However, we found our room VERY small. Only big enough for the double bed, a small dresser and a sink.
Also a tiny bathroom with toilet and tiny shower stall.
Didn't like the curtain separating the main room from the bathroom.
Needs some TLC overall.
One HUGE plus though was the included full breakfast. Choice of items including eggs benny, eggs/meat/breakfast potatoes, etc. and including coffee/tea. And excellent service, though a bit slow with only one young lady waiting tables.
Enjoyed the antiques around the hotel. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast in the cafe was outstanding. The only thing I would change was having the hall light turned off at nighttime.
What a gem! Booked this hotel last minute to avoid rain while camping! Ended up being a trip highlight! Hotel has exceptional staff, especially Anna is so wonderful. The place has lots of character and charm. Great setting for a murder mystery film!
The manager was fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming, even though we came in late.
This building really was the old court house and each room in the building, from the 1910s or so, has been converted. The decor, strangely enough, reminds you of Asia or perhaps Asian fascination from that period of time.
Downstairs is the equally fascinating Edie Rae cafe where you will get the best breakfast (free with your booking) that I have had in a long time.
The location is the old section of town. Since the mill closed the area has suffered, but there are many great buildings to look at. Downtown for shopping is a 10 minute drive.
I can't recommend this place enough.
Very accommodating, had a lovely stay here.
