Emplacement, confort, tranquillité
Very enjoyable stay. Beautiful setting.
This is an exceptional property. Take the time to really explore it. We were lucky to get the Governor's room - where apparently the Queen spent a night in 1994. We plan to return and treat ourselves to the 4 o'clock tea. Thanks for such an incredible experience. Dan and Estelle
This hotel is an old building on a riverfront location. The room was large and there was an added gallery which proved to be very pleasant to sit in after supper. The bathroom was very modern, well equipped and ultra clean. Water was hot and towels excellent.
The house is stuffed full of antiques which in the public space is interesting but in the bedroom is way too much. The hotel does not provide food and because of its location one has to drive some distance to fid anything to eat.
Delightful historic building full of wonderful antiques and ambience
The breakfast was fabulous. The place was beautiful. It was like stepping back in time. We loved all the seating areas and all of the wonderful art and antiques to look at.
It is unfortunate that the dining room is not open.
Mike is a lovely host and the rooms are spacious and our bed was super comfortable. Our room looked over the Miramichi river which is very scenic. Peaceful and quiet small hamlet.
The antique furniture was amazing as was the deep soaker tub. The bed was very comfortable
Because of the renovation going on, the place had an abandoned feeling about it.
There was no cream for the coffee and only 1 tea bag.
it was nicely decorated on the inside
too expensive and the breakfast was not included as the description initially stated - no discount was offered. I found this information very misleading.
No Breakfast. Great location. Property under renovation which was no problem for stay but explains maybe lack of staff and lack of breakfast.
We had two rooms and although both rooms where very comfortable there was a large difference in ambience, where one room far exceeded expectations, and was located in the original "mansion" with all it's oppulence, the other was located in a "utilitarian" add-on that was not much different from a "Comfort Inn" motel, except much roomier, and in comparison, fell short of expectations. :-)
All in all however, we liked it a lot.

Wonderful classic historic home with waterfront location. Beyond friendly proprietor!
Our room was surprisingly spacious with a living room, refrigerator, bathroom and bedroom. The bed was especially divine. The innkeeper, Mike, is one the most generous, kind and friendly people we've had the pleasure of meeting. His patience and deep history with the town and people allows him to answer most questions with ease: where to eat, family stories, who might be able to clean a grave stone. He epitomizes hard work, humility and the value of building genuine relationships. The only minor downside to our stay: it was a little hot and stuffy for us to enjoy the veranda this time of year but the views from it are marvelous. We just walked along the river instead. It would have been a next level bonus to sit out there with windows open enjoying the view, so we'll just have to go back when its cooler.
It was rated a 3 star property and we have had good luck staying at similar ones.
The inn was empty on arrival. We let ourselves in and found our room. My wife found the place musty and not very welcoming. We went for a short walk and to be honest not well located for any longer walks. Returning to the inn my wife was uncomfortable about staying in such a large house by ourselves. When we went for dinner would be returning to a dark unfamiliar place? At that point we decided to leave after we found a budget hotel closer to town.
It is an incredible living collection of history, situated right in the river and the owner is lovely.
I was only there to sleep so it was a very brief stay.
