Baccarat hotel high tea
This was meant to be such a highlight of our 10 day trip to NYC. I researched multiple high tea options before deciding on and booking tea at The Baccarat Hotel, the Tinsel Tea, as it was in December.
The room itself where tea is served is spectacular. Beautifully furnished, colour coordinated and luxurious.
The service fell well short of what I would expect from The Baccarat Hotel and its reputation for excellance. We had to ask to have our coats hung up, champagne glasses weren’t cleared, the finger food on the plates were not run through so we had to ask to see the menu again to identify what we were eating. I had to ask for milk 3 times and had trouble getting any servers attention. We even had dead flowers on our table.
The food was not amazing. The things that were good included the lobster roll, the coronation chicken, the deviled egg and the chocolate mousse. The scones were just not scones. They were crunchy and shallow like biscuits. I’m not sure if that is an American thing, but in the UK and Australia, these would not be called scones. I have since had another high tea in America, and they had normal scones.
The tea was good and the beautiful pots kept the tea hot for a good length of time.
I would not recommend or return to The Baccarat for afternoon tea. It was an expensive, disappointing experience.

Excellent afternoon tinsel tea. Lovely setting . Very good sandwiches and desserts. Outstanding warm scones. Service is spotty- friendly and polite but slow to seat us and check took forever.

This hotel does not disappoint!! It is in a great location, absolutely stunning and the customer service is off the charts!! After our first night I had a couple minor things I was going to mention to the hotel but before I could, one of the staff (Blossom) reached out to me to make sure everything is was great. She handled the issues right away and made everything perfect. She was so professional and kind and she continued to make sure our stay was fabulous all week! My husband and I have stayed at several luxe hotels in NYC but now we will always return here!! Thank you for a magical week!!

I spent three nights at the Baccarat Hotel last week as I was in town for business. If you are looking for a world class experience then you should look no further. This hotel is spectacular and the people who work there are even better! You are greeted by Kelvin and the guys out front like family! I thank all of you for being so warm during my stay... Coco, Baboo, Saadad, Doumbia, & Sam are just tops at their craft. You check in and the room is ready! You are always greeted by the same kind faces in Fresia, Matthew, and Tanbir. Always so positive and welcoming! And...a nice upgrade was offered! Big thank you here!! I walk into their Grand Salon that is so well appointed with crystal you feel as if you are in the Palace of Versailles! I am met by Ivani who once again is, warm, welcoming, and gracious! She is wonderful and offered a nice cappucinno! I mention all of this detail because that is what they do best is pay attention to the smallest things that shows how much they care about you! I needed a short notice reservation and presto...Rajae (concierge) delivers! She does it effortlessly and really is such a pleasure to converse with about many things. Rafael... (concierge) spent time with a friend of mine who was in town. His first time in the Grand Salon and Rafael made sure he was comfortable and couldn't do enough for him. So professional this concierge team and really connected in the city. They have a boutique of crystal & and I had the pleasure of meeting Leen & Claudette. Both of them couldn't have been nicer and such a pleasure to speak with both of you! I have many of my meeting in the Grand Salon and Aida always makes sure I have a place to conduct the meeting. I mean, she goes above and beyond to ensure that I am happy! I thank you from my heart! The team in the Grand Salon are like an orchestra that hits every note, every time! They remember my drink or what wine I had the last time I was in town and are such a pleasure to be around. When you are away from your family they make sure that I feel at home and do it with ease. This team of Nasir, Roland, Solomon, Karma, Frederick and many others are just like seeing family! A big thanks to all of you! I spoke with Kristen who always makes a point of saying hello... To all of the new members of the team I thank you you for taking the time to say hello as well! I book my room with Patrice, who is by far one of the nicest people I have been associated with. She gets back to me in a timely manner and really wants the best situation each time I make a reservation. I thank you so very much Patrice!! You are the best! I stayed on the 10th floor this stay and the housekeeping team on this floor was over the top! The order in which they put all of my things is incredible. The even place my hats on the bust in the room which made me laugh when I returned. Thank you so much!! The gym is fantastic and the location is right in the middle of Manhattan so you are perfectly situated in the this city that has everything you could ever dream of... I could not imagine ever staying at any other hotel in New York! See you in a couple weeks with my family this time!!
