El hotel me dijo que no existia mi reservación que habiamos hecho a través de hotels.com y estuvo lleno el hotel así que ¡tuvimos que buscar otro! - el 31 de diciembre :O(
First off, this is a beautiful hotel with wonderful hosts and service. The views (about 15 mins outside San Juan del Sur) are stunning with an excellent sight of the ocean. Great location.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful, and the free breakfast is just right.
Only downside was the room was very loud with paperthin walls, we could hear everything outside the door. Granted, there were lots of kids running around so maybe we can let that slide.
Bed was okay, comforters were very light and not super comfy.
TV and hot tub were not working.
All things considered, this was worth it for the price! I imagine they could continue to improve.
Greg wood supports men who beat their wives ... I have a declaration that names him as a supporting domestic violence and it happened on the property
My husband and I stayed here for five nights at the end of april. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff was incredibly helpful. They have a restaurant in the hotel and we found we liked staying there to eat, the food was very tasty. We also enjoyed the short walk to the beach. It's the perfect escape if you would like beach access without the crowd. My family is going to be making future trips here.
Nice hotel on the hill. happy hour drinks $2 dls each, beers $1 dl each closed to several beautiful beaches like Maderas,Mahajual, Yankee,Playa El Coco,Maderas,Playones, there is also a pretty nice small town I recommend
San Juan Del Sur where you can swim and eat good food
.
If you want a peaceful and relaxing get away near San Juan Del Sur, this is the place to stay! The nicest staff, a beautiful property, nooks and crannies everywhere to relax and enjoy the gorgeous view...this is a wonderful hotel on the quiet coast of Nica. Vicky will make sure your stay is exactly what you want. Patios, hammocks, bar, restaurant, 2 minute walk to the beach, surf lessons...everything you need is right here.
We booked the family room, which is two guest hotel rooms joined by a bathroom. Plenty of room, windows, and air conditioners. Clean and comfortable.
If you read about people disappointed with this location, they likely weren’t coming to this area for the quiet spot that it is. If you want to see tons of Americans and party late into the night then you really should stay in San Juan Del Sur.
The beach at the end of the road is shore break, always empty, with two restaurants on the sand. Watch out for the fresh water crocs!!
We will be back! Enjoy your time in this sweet castle on the hill!
The best part about this hotel is when you drive up as it looks really impressive sitting on top of the hill. It was also very empty so it may be nice for a couple trying to relax and get away. Its about a 5 minute walk to the local beach which is OK but not as nice as neighboring beach in Playa Madera. Also the free breakfast was solid (pancakes especially). Downsides are the fact that it is very isolated, requiring a 30 minute drive on rocky roads to get into San Juan Del Sur. Not much worth seeing between this hotel and the town. The hotel itself isn't very nice, seemed like a 2 star hotel in terms of accommodations and cleanliness. There were so many bugs. I got all bitten up in my bed while sleeping. This was the most expensive hotel of the trip and the least impressive of the 3. Staff was OK but not very friendly except for the main manager who was nice. Overall, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
The location is good. Nice ocean view. The staff is friendly. The food is not great. Room cleanliness was not great either. The water pressure was very weak. Also there’s a pretty strong sewer smell. The we were there 2 nights and the electricity was out 3 times for an hr or 2.
No lo recomiendo es un hotel que no esta en San Juan del Sur esta alejado y la calle de ingreso es de tierra y esta muy mala, el hotel esta descuidado en el mantenimiento.
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Bahia. The most friendly staff and the most beautiful views. The owner Greg, made us feel at home like we were part of the family. We cannot wait to come back. It was also nice practically having the whole beach to ourselves.
Terrible experience. The resort was under construction when we arrived, they were jack hammering the empty pool & there were no guests there. We had a reservation to stay for 4 nights but had to go on Expedia to find another place. They had no explanation for why they did not email us but they did give us a bottle of wine & a ride back to town for our inconvenience. We wound up staying at a lovely place closer to town called Villas de Palermo.
Casa Bahia is a 30 min drive on a dirt road from town. Just make sure they are open before you go.
Great view, just a five minute walk from the beach which is really quiet compared to San Juan. Plus there are two restaurants there which offer cheap beer (compared to San Juan) and the first restaurant that you come upon (the one the feeds the salt water croc) has the most amazing grilled garlic shrimp dish, I've never tasted shrimp this delicious. The restaurant at the hotel is good for snacks and the breakfast is better than most places in the US. The owner is interactive and very friendly, he's from California so he understands that customer service is important. The only hiccup we had there was when we asked for a shuttle to the Managua airport the "shuttle" was a corolla sedan, not nearly big enough for this family of four and their suit cases. Lastly the road getting there is hard dirt (called the chocolate road by the natives) so just take your time and trust the signs, they will lead you to the hotel. Great place and when we return we will totally be staying here again over San Juan.
This place offered decent value, but is not a 4/5 star place. It is obviously a little frayed around the edges. I think that the SJDS region is over-built with hotel rooms and that there is not enough revenue coming in to properly maintain properties like this. The staff was friendly/helpful and overall this was a fine stay. The room was fine, if a bit dated/worn (and no in-room safe). The Wifi worked. The breakfast was decent. The pool was fine and the views were nice. There was construction going on during our stay that was noisy, but such is life (and a good sign that someone is investing in the infrastructure there). Maybe this property has recently come under new ownership or something and will be nicer (and pricier?) in the future - I could see this as the location is good (Playa Marsella itself is a nice beach).
The employees are very attentive, the rooms are serene and you can tell someone has put a lot of thought into customer service and making their guests feel welcome. The owners were very attentive. I was nervous after reading about bed bugs but the resort is sprayed regularly and we didn't see anything concerning. The views are astonishing! Looking forward to our next surf trip!
I wanted to like this place, but it's a little run down (even though they say it's been recently remodeled) and has bed bugs. We booked 4 nights but left after 2 nights. We stayed in the 2 BR casita (apartment) which is detached from the main hotel, so perhaps the main hotel rooms are better, but in our casita there were lots of bugs (probably due to the lack of screens on the doors and windows and the gaps in the windows that let the bugs in.... BTW, how hard is it to design and build doors and windows that are tight and secure with no gaps? We ended up stuffing toilet paper in the gaps to keep the bugs out). The room also just seemed dirty (probably didn't help that we didn't get any maid service during our stay). Many of our towels and lines were stained (really? If you can't clean it properly you shouldn't use it). And to top it all off there were bed bugs (our 10 year old daughter got eaten up on the second night). Don't plan on using the small kitchen in the casita as there was no refrigerator and it was not stocked with the normal pots and pans and dish wear. There is a pool (not the nicest buy okay) and a restaurant (acceptable food but not great with a limited menu). Nice view with a 5 minute hike down to get to beach. The handful of staff are pleasant enough but didn't seem very excited or enthusiastic to be working there. This place is more of a 2 1/2 star place, even for Nicaragua, though they are charging 4 star prices. There are better options around for the money.
We stumbled on this place after arriving in San Juan and looking for a place to stay on Nov.15th 2016. The road to the place was a rough ride but once we got there the owner Greg greeted us and gave a great rate on a 2 bedroom room for 2 nights. The resort is ejaculate and has beautiful views of the beach and mountains. The restaurant was OK and the staff was very helpful. It's a 5 min walk to the beach with beautiful views and places to eat and drink right on the beach. We plan on coming back next year and spend more time in this lovely place.
The care is personalized, food is the most exquisite. The work is super eam excelnte prepared to perform their duties. The view is the best in the area around San Juan del Sur.
You have to visit the place you will be totally relaxed ocenao that view.
I traveled with my other half and our two toddlers (2 year old n 1 year old). The hotel is about 25 minutes from town and the road to get there is dirt and not a lot of signs to guide you. When we got there the boys were sleep so we took them straight to the room. The rooms are very outdated and the tv didn't work. The rooms had bees and one bee stunk my two year old. We notice a lot of bees and decided for the sake of the kids to leave. The food was ok the only plus is the view.
I was pretty bummed out when my friend & I ended up with food poisoning from their appetizer dishes on our first night. Even though the view is beautiful and the beach is a close three minute walk, it didn't make up for the tons of bugs, a lizard in our room, no wifi the second night because they decided to change wifi, the tv in our room would go in and out, and their staff barely spoke any English, making it very difficult to communicate our needs. I was also very surprised we were charged $ on water when all the other places we visited in Nicaragua didn't charge us. Lastly, when we opened our curtains in our rooms there were dead mosquitos and flies on the window edges! :( It was unfortunate because we were looking forward to the hotel and its experience.
NEGATIVE POINTS: There were scarabs EVERYWHERE.
When we went out of the room there was a whole "carpet" made of this beetles. We went to the kitchen and they were also there. To the bar, also. To the pool, also... The hotel owners should do something about it. We didn't see this anywhere else in Nicaragua... There is always insects, but nothing like this.
The rooms were super old-fashion and not so comfy.
POSITIVE POINTS: The staff was friendly and the hotel is located in a lovely area.
