Majestic older hotel. Location was just a few blocks from where we were attending a family weekend at our granddaughter’s school. The Mountain View was beautiful!
Walking up stairs with luggage. We will request a first floor room next time.
Enjoyed this nostalgic building in the serene setting. Wonderful staff and Gen X breakfast!
Due to age of building and time of year, a faint odor of mustiness occasionally arose. Some of the doors in common areas close too quickly. The main door to the front desk had cracks in the glass where if one were to try to stop the door from closing a serious injury was potential.
Schade.
We paid $244 for one night, 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. 2 adults and 3 children so we needed to use the pullout couch. My 11 year old can normally sleep anywhere but he was complaining about how uncomfortable it was. The bar and springs were felt through the very thin mattress. I would Recommend to replace the mattress but the whole couch was sagging and in need of replacement. He ended up just sleeping on the floor with some of the couch cushions.
We went down for breakfast at 7am (they told us 7-10) and it wasn’t ready yet. We had to wait about 15 minutes. Not a huge deal but then we started to eat and the hostess staff came around and took our utensils and napkins and said we needed to use the plastic today (all the tables were set already)….it was odd. Then we went to swim in the pool at 9 (hours 9a-8p) and it was still covered. I called The desk and was told maintenance wasn’t coming until 10am to open it. So I had Some disappointed kids. We did go back at 10 and he was just arriving so again had to wait 15/20 mins while he opened the pool. I understand That it’s the end of their busy ski season but I feel like they should still care about the ate season service too. Not sure if we will come back.
Outdoor pool and sauna
Restaurant seemed understaffed. Took forever for our server to come over and then she really never came back. She seemed like she didn’t know what she was doing. Drinks and food took a long time to come out.
Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Staff was very helpful & friendly.

Loved the fireplace in the room. The bed was very comfortable. The staff and facilities were nice.
The room was freezing when we arrived and took hours to warm up. The fireplace was in a position that made it difficult to see/warm up with as it's away from the sitting/sleeping areas.
Food in the restaurant was good
Shower drain was clogged; first room key didn't work, boards on the ramp were loose and air conditioning was poor.
Cute hotel with nice location
Had a lot of trouble with WIFI and Tv
It was pet friendly and we had a nice cozy fireplace in the room!
The outside pool was too cold for swimming in winter, it used to be kept hotter. The breakfast was included, cannot complain but was sort of lame continental grab and go
Our king bed was clean and comfortable. We did not have a full shower soap dispenser. My husband used shampoo instead. Front desk staff exceedingly helpful.
The west wing was dog friendly. Kind of a cool looking hotel. Fitness equipment was adequate and swim out pool looked kind of neat.
Pool/fitness room not connected to main room. Unless u want to venture out into sub arctic wind chill after swim it needs to be connected.
Christmas dinner was a little overrated as the food was a little mid. People upstairs from us were like elephants til 10:30. Walls are thin and doors are creaky. Resort fee?
Beautiful old buildings brimming with old time New England character and charm. The layout and structural elements show their age, even the room keys are clearly older than my 35 year old self. The inn has just about all of the modern amenities one would expect, perhaps somewhat awkwardly retrofitted into its old bones. While there are some aspects of this that may bother people looking for a more standard chain hotel experience, if you're willing to overlook some minor issues with finish or whining vent fans, the fascinating historical elements of the inn more than make up for it.
In terms of the room itself, the bed was comfortable and the room/bathroom were clean. The vent fan had a bit of a whine to it, and outside noise was somewhat noticeable but not overtly so. Occasional bubbling sounds coming from the pipes, but again not to the extent of annoyance.
The stay itself was enjoyable but I particularly had fun wandering around the lobby and common areas, soaking up the early 1900s atmosphere. Overall we had a very pleasant experience and would recommend The Bethel to anyone with an appreciation for old buildings and history.
