If you're used to box-standard, soulless hotel service, this may not be the place for you. My wife and I spent a week here and by the time we left were referring to the staff as our Superfriends because they were so warm, helpful, friendly and made the place feel like home for us. It is also clear that being there is more than a job for them - they give the place such a constant personal touch. Can't say enough about them.
The hotel itself is beautiful - minimalist architecture/setup that really fostered an air of tranquility and peace. Our room had a comfy bed, plenty of storage space, and a great bathroom with two shower heads, a large stone tub, two sinks and a toilet in a separate room. Through a side door was a small outside space just for us with a private hammock. It had A/C and a fan and both did their jobs just fine.
The pool is a nice size and was fun to take a dip in. There are other hammocks strewn about the grounds as well as yoga space if that's your thing. The kitchen/communal area is lovely. We were encouraged to use the kitchen like it was our own. They will also cook you something awesome if you ask nicely. There is a great fire pit too!
It is close to good food and not far from the beach (we rented a scooter which made every trip everywhere very short) but in a quiet part of town so when we came home we felt very much like we were escaping reality. It really is a very relaxing place and we can't wait to go back.
This eco-hotel is only 10 minutes from the beach and a must recommend for unpretentious travelers. They are a genuinely friendly staff who take pleasure in the art of detail. The rooms are modern, inviting, and simple, so that your experience is focused on relaxing and removing unnecessary distraction from your stay. Simplicity is the key word.
Breakfasts were incredible! The food is healthy and delicious. Not for the Boho-chic trendsetter who brings lots of baggage. This place is for people not looking for that trendy, uber-swanky Tulum experience.
We were extremely disappointed with our accommodations. 1st we booked this place because it advertised "Premium Channels" on TV. As my husband wanted to watch "Australian" open. When we got there there was NO TV. We were told they did have a large TV but only in common area for Dec and they had taken it down. You could just walk around the bed. The bed was about 3 and a half feet off the ground so you could not really sit on it. There were NO chairs in the room to sit on. There was a hammock on the front porch but no chairs. There were only very small mood lights that ran along the top of the wall on two sides. There was no other lights and it was impossible to see at night to read. The bathroom also had access from other rooms. The breakfast consisted of weak coffee, fruit, cereal and white bed for toasting. The staff told us they would move us to a larger room but we had to wait two days. When the 2 days passed they told us we would have to wait 2 more days. They refused to give us a full refund on the basis of "false" advertising and kept 50% of our money, of which we had paid in cash for 7 nights. When it rained the whole outside was flooded and the walking paths were very slippery. We moved to a 2 bedroom penthouse with jacuuzi, full kitchen, Real Premium channels on the TV for only 20$ more a night.
Very difficult to find as no signs outside the front. You can only pay for accomodation with cash, no cards excepted. Our room was TINY! Literally the length and width of the bed. The only way to open our suitcase was to put it on the bed and then keep in under the bed. Very difficult for us to both be in the room at the same time. It was stinking hot when we were there and all we had in the small room was a ceiling fan that sounded like a jet plane about to take off. it was that load neither of us got any sleep. No curtains on the window so the room is constantly light. We had to share a bathroom which was not mentioned anywhere when we booked this place which was inconvenient. Average breakfast. Dirty pool. We wanted to go for a swim but the pool was full of leaves and dead mosquitoes. 10min walk into town. This place definitely isn't hotel standard, its a hostel.
The suite is really beautiful. We loved the minimal design, the spacious bathroom, and the great decor. Pool and bonfire are lovely and the space has a great feel. Location is not ideal—convenient to walk into town but a long ways from the beach, in a run-down area. Staff is very friendly but service is a little lacking... Wasn't clear if they were there working or just hanging out or sometimes not there at all. There are no signs for the hotel and most taxi drivers don't know it; use the restaurant Don Diego de la Selva as a landmark to find it.
