Gray's Restaurant is open from Wednesday to Saturday 6.30pm - 9pm (last sitting 8.30pm). It is essential that all guests pre-book their table at the restaurant prior to arrival as spaces are limited.

The restaurant is closed on New Year's Eve for an event. Tickets are available in advance. Comfortable with good food, but could be so much better with a few updates.
Pros:

Spa was very good. Everything working well and clean.
Breakfast was good, plenty of choices but coffee machine not working.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Bar also had good food menu.

Cons:

Executive room was a disappointment for the price. Looked shabby and needing an update. Bathroom sink plug leaks. Chair stained. Kettle old and stained, lid didn’t close properly. Very limited complimentary toiletries ie hand and shower soap.

Would have loved facilities to have been included within the price paid for stay and would reconsider following year.
Pros:

Cleanliness, staff friendly breakfast was very nice and a good choice.
Peaceful and lovely room overlooking golf grounds

Cons:

Extra charges to use facilities now within hotel gym swimming pool etc, if not booked directly with them. We return every year and previously this was not the case always used booking.com and facilities were included.

Great stay, would stay there again.
Pros:

excellent breakfast. room was spacious and comfortable with lot of gifts for our dog.

Cons:

Room was not ready for the dog so had to ask at reception for dog basket etc which was provided very quickly.

The hotel is well located, but I felt like a potential criminal rather than a guest
Pros:

The breakfast had a good range to meet all tastes

Cons:

Every question was met by a ‘computer says no’ type answer. The staff did try to oblige but the system was really inflexible

The building, facilities and location

Cons:

service was slow in the restaurant for lunch, dinner and breakfast and none of our food came at the same time. The treatments in the spa were not good, painful massage. Not relaxing at all. Got our money returned after complaining.
Deposits were not returned, we had to contact the hotel multiple times after we left to have money returned. I was sent to another guests room with my key card. They had muddled up the bookings which was a security issue.

Disappointing
Pros:

The location was good and despite the reviews on Grays Restaurant we could not fault the food.

Cons:

The hotel wasn’t clean and is in need of refurbishing. The spa treatments we both had was not the best firstly the room was cold and my body scrub didn’t include my arms!

Mislead
Pros:

When we stayed in June we thought the gym was fantastic but the rooms were a little weary. Booked again for October because of the gym. After taking our payment they informed us we now have to pay £25 each to use the gym. Cancelled booking as the gym was our prime motivator for booking. Feel mislead as there was no suggestion of paying for gym when we booked,only after paying.

Spa facilities run down cold water no hot water this was emailed over to us but it appears that this has been an ongoing problem for a long time. the outdoor spa was closed no reason given. Room damp possibly allowed to have a dog in the room but unsure. When we escalated the concerns on arrival no apology or concern. The hotel was booked because of the spa option. It needs advertised better as currently fraudulent
