Location was good, rooms nice
Hot water kept going off and radiators in the bedroom. Water pressure also was not very good.
Nice comfortable bedroom and nice bar area. Staff very friendly.
Having to wait 45 minutes for breakfast to be cooked. When it arrived, it was dried up bacon and cold. Disappointed. My advice is to skip breakfast.
We looked forward to staying at this hotel having had a marvellous meal a few years ago. This time round we stayed overnight following a family funeral. The hotel is beautiful throughout. Very clean and well kept. All staff friendly & helpful. Our rooms (particularly room 9) were very cold on occasion. The mattresses are comfortable but wooden frame a nightmare for short people to get in & out of bed! Staff working overnight could be heard until 3 am - machines going and talking. The dinner was a HUGE disappointment - what happened chef? 2 out of the 3 courses for myself were inedible. A curry consisted of tough & dry pieces of chicken - both my daughter & I had to leave it. My dessert (Panna cotta) did not resemble it's description whatsoever. It was so dense & unpleasant - one spoonful was enough. My husband was happy with his steak & pecan pie. Staff kindly gave us free cocktails to compensate. Breakfast was excellent thankfully!
Location, private garden, room set up.
Electric heater, burn on bed throw, description was spa bath but was just a normal bath with shower. Reception staff seemed preoccupied and not very welcoming. Bar closed at 09:30 instead of 00:00 as it was quiet, impacting staying paid guests who would like to have used the facilities. Doors locked at 23:55pm, difficult and awkward as nobody available at reception to allow smoking guests out of the hotel for a cigarette.
Staff are very kind
The food was vile and the bed was not great room was freezing and not very clean just didn't like atall
Fantastic 21st & 75th celebration. Rebecca was outstanding; DJ, Dominic & Ben superb. Highly recommend The Torrance!
The staff, every one of them were really nice to us and very helpful.
The lack of sockets and phone charging points in the room.
Let me start with the positives.
The Torrance hotel is a beautiful hotel with a lovely bar with lots of lovely cocktails. We had a delicious evening meal and a lovely breakfast in the morning I could not fault the bar and restaurant.
The room we got was so small, very dark with almost no natural light as the bed was blocking the window. We were only booked in for one night and not I’m much of a complainer but we were very disappointed and underwhelmed with the room but tried to look past that, definitely not worth the £150 we paid!
The room we later discovered was right next door to the laundry room and it was so noisy with trolleys going past the whole night and lots for doors slamming, think they were setting up one of the halls through the night for a wedding the next day as there was a party in full swing when we headed to bed and the next morning the hall was set up for a wedding which I suspect was the reason for this.
Now I have to add I don’t mind noise at all it’s s hotel it’s going there’s going to be some but I felt it was just to much.
I’m thinking we just had a bad experience with the room so avoid room 17 on the first floor at all costs!
Many thanks to Rebecca on the events team, Dom, Jacob, Rebecca (on reception), and the entire Torrance Hotel team for organising and looking after my colleagues and me so well for our annual company event.
We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and our stay. We genuinely appreciate the time, effort and organisation that went into ensuring we were so well looked after with food and drinks, and that all the clean, well-appointed rooms were ready for my colleagues on arrival.
A special thanks to the chef and morning staff for providing a delicious early breakfast for all of us before we left on Tuesday morning.
On behalf of my Directors and colleagues, our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone involved.
We look forward to staying at The Torrance again soon and to our next company event with you.
Clean room. Comfortable mattress and good pillows. Bedding was good quality We had lunch in the bar which was well presented and tasty. Staff were courteous and helpful. No complaints
The room was quite dark and in need of a little updating. The step up to the bed is a tripping hazard. And bed was surrounded by hard wooden frame. It was like sleeping in a cot, and being small it was difficult to get out. Though the mattress itself was very comfortable
Breakfast was delicious we had the Scottish breakfast.
We ate in the restaurant, food was good Services’s excellent.
Room was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfy.
Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends.
