Pros:

Situation is excellent but with a few notable exceptions staff, service and fabric lacklustre. Suffers as all facilities available to non residents and no particular benefit in staying there. Would not return

It was wonderful to be right on the rim! The bartenders and servers were so friendly. Parking was a little tough since it was open to the public.

Great central place to stay in the park.
Pros:

Wonderful historic lodge with beautiful views. You can see the lodge from Hermit road overlooks. Food options were fair. They offered coffee/tea service for the mornings but never had it

Pros:

Great place to stay! Fabulous view of the canyon all around. Perfect for our adventure from the uk. Despite comments online about the restaurant being expensive we found it to be very reasonable compared to Vegas which was our first stop. Food was delicious too. Thanks to the El Tovar staff team. We loved it

The location is awesome and the hotel Is rich in traditional decor. However- be aware that our “Terrace” room was on the basement floor with a view of the back parking lot.

Pros:

The location is amazing - right on the rim. Parking is a challenge and the circulation system around the hotel is confusing. The room is really nice, the staff is super friendly and the restaurant was awesome. Main feature is of course the Grand Canyon right outside the front door. Perfect!

Pros:

This is a lovely hotel with an incomparable location. Although expensive, the room was quite nice and a good size. The restaurant food was well beyond expectation for a national park hotel, and the service of the staff at breakfast was exceptional. Hard to beat being able to see the canyon outside our window and step outside to the edge at sunrise!

TV reception was horrible! Staff tried but in this day and age of technology and the caliber of the hotel I would think they would have state of the art television

Pros:

My wife and I were taking a trip of a lifetime and decided to spring for almost a thousand bucks to stay in this convenient and iconic hotel. The check in experience was great and the accommodations were as expected for such an old property.

My issue relates to the dinner reservation we made two weeks before we arrived. We really wanted to sit near the windows in the dining room and stopped by the restaurant desk earlier in the day to ask for this accommodation. It was noted, so when we arrived, it was a bit surprising that the young desk clerk seemed reluctant to reassign our table, but did find us a table near the windows. We sat and observed the fact that two window tables were unassigned…and we were one of a very few patrons in there at the time. After being waited on, we observed another couple was being seated near us, but they asked to have one of the tables at the window and they were moved. I was sorely disappointed at this outcome … it seemed that our wishes weren’t even considered, but if we had raised the question, we may have gotten a coveted spot. Frankly it ruined my $200+ meal…and (sorry for the pun) left a bad taste in my mouth.

I’ll never be able to make this trip again, so I’ll never get to experience the dream of sitting at a canyon-view window. But I hope the staff can learn to be more attentive, especially when making accommodations for other folks in similar situations but not for us, made me feel unwelcome.

Pros:

Very convenient location within the park. Good dining options. Historic charming building. However some renovation would be needed to regain ambiance what I believe one was there.
