Jamaika am 7-Mile-Beach at its best.
Pros:

Unser Aufenthalt war fantastisch. Wir waren mit drei Generationen dort und von der 5-jährigen bis zur 60-jährigen waren alle begeistert. Wenn man ein familiäres, persönliches, landestypisch jamaikanisches Hotel möchte, ist man hier goldrichtig. Es gibt in der Nähe durchaus größere und luxuriösere Hotels, die aber lange nicht so einen entspannten jamaikanischen Vibe haben, wie das Firefly Beach. Trotzdem wird das Hotel hochprofessionell geführt. Wir hatten anfangs ein paar Beanstandungen, die am nächsten Morgen sofort und sehr professionell von Dennis vollends gelöst wurden. Man kann sich mit allen Angestellten unterhalten und auf Fragen und Sonderwünsche wird jederzeit nett und freundlich eingegangen. Das Hotel hat echten persönlichen Charakter und wir haben es geliebt. Die Küche im zugehörigen Restaurant ist wirklich richtig gut, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, welches in ähnlichen Restaurants viel schlechter ist, ist hervorragend. Die direkte Strandlage mit schattenspendenden Bäumen und die blumenreiche, gepflegte Anlage runden alles perfekt ab. Und last but not least: Wayne ist der beste Geburtstagsliedsänger auf ganz Jamaica. This man made my day.

Cons:

Einige der Mitarbeiter im zugehörigen Restaurant sind nicht freundlich und nicht entgegenkommend, was uns sehr verwundert hat, weil es zu dem ansonsten sehr gut geführten Hotel nicht passt.

Wunderbar zum Relaxen
Pros:

Ein zauberhafter Ort, direkt am 7MileBeach.
Viel grün, es blühte überall.
Die Mitarbeiter des Cottage sind sehr sympathisch, nett und hilfsbereit.
Keine laute Musik.

Cons:

Das Personal im zugehörigen Restaurant war langsam, teils unfreundlich und wenig aufmerksam.
Es hat sehr lange gedauert bis das Essen oder auch nur eine Tasse Kaffee kam.

Misleading and extremely disappointing

The lady at the reception who tried to find us a solution.

Cons:

I never leave bad reviews but this one does not even deserve the 3/10 that I gave. It is misleading and false advertising. This property is nowhere near a 4 star. The photos do not correspond to reality. The rooms are old, dark and cramped. We got to see 2 rooms because the first room was a box in a box where my husband and I couldn’t sleep, we both felt claustrophobic. The receptionist found us a different room for the next 5 nights.
In the new room same problems: the shower is extremely tiny and uncomfortable, the WiFi doesn’t work and you can’t watch any tv because everything works through the WiFi. There are electric cables popping out the walls. There are no windows just shutters so you hear everything and everyone. No toiletries provided other than a small bar soap… and the list is long.
Also the restaurant staff were not very polite and they tried to rip us off two times.

Pros:

The location of Firefly Beach Cottages right on 7 Mile Beach is great! The food in the restaurant is really good and the vibe is nice. The staff at the front desk is very helpful and Dennis at the bar is the best. The cleaning was good and the beds nice. There is A/C and a fan in the room which is very good. Firefly offers beach towels to the guests which is nice. There is a good supermaket only a short walk away from the hotel. We had breakfast included which meant that we could choose one dish from the breakfast menue with a glass of juice and a cup of coffee.

Cons:

It says on Booking that Firefly has a private beach but it hasn't. The beach area for the guests is extremely small and a lot of people not even staying at Firefly make reservations for the sunbeds early in the morning.
A part of our group stayed in room 16, a room for four persons close to the road. It was extremely noisy! There is no glass in the windows isolating the noise, only insect nets and wooden blinds. At night you felt like the bed was in the middle of the road because of the loud traffic noise. At 3 AM the roosters started yelling and it felt like they were right there in your bedroom. It was awful. None of us got a good night's sleep during our 10 day stay. Addressed the problem at the front desk but they could not offer another room further away from the road.
The standard of the room was very outdated. There was no warm water in the tap neither in the kitchen nor in the bathroom. If you wanted warm water you had to turn the shower on. The shower taps (one for hot and one for cold water) were loose and it felt like they were going to come off the wall when you turned them. The water pressure was very low at times but addressing this problem to the front desk resulted in a new shower head and the problem got solved.
The kitchen was poorly equipped and there were no electrical outlets for the coffee maker or the toaster in the kitchen area so we had to have them on the floor in the livingroom area to be able to use them.
The room was in general very dark and quite poorly decorated, so we stayed there as little as possible. A part of our group stayed in room 4, also close to the road, outdated, dark and noisy. The standard and comfort of the rooms we stayed in was not very good.

Bonita vista a la playa, la salida directa a la playa fue lo mejor.

Cons:

Habitaciones pequeñas y mal distribuidas, encontramos bichos, que si bien lo limpiaron fue desagradable encontrarlos.
Ruidosa las habitaciones cerca a la carretera.
