Picturesque stay
Pros:

It was a very picturesque setting. We were in one of the top rooms. I think one of the rooms on the floor below with big windows and views of the back gardens would have been nice and I would recommend.

Cons:

If you get a cappuccino or latte when they offer you coffee in the morning you have to pay for it.

Pros:

We visited for afternoon tea, the room was spacious and light with blossoms hanging from the ceiling , the food was delicious , especially the scones , light and still warm, our tea pot was refilled without us needing to ask and the lady who served us so very friendly , what a lovely atmosphere

Beautiful hotel in a great setting with decent food in the on site restaurant.
Pros:

Beautiful building in a stunning location. The room I was in was a decent size, as was the bathroom. Food in restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, was good.

Pros:

Very comfortable large quiet bedroom and bed

Cons:

No food available after nine pm. No bar service.
Bar area itself unappealing with poor lighting and seating. Breakfast dishes and corn flakes left out in full view.

Left feeling disappointed
Pros:

Husband planned a overnight suprise stay for our wedding annivisery, which we was left disappointed, rooms described to be boutique style. But there was marks on the floors chip in the bath and sink not working properly. When spoke to reception they just said they will get maintenance to sort it. Breakfest wasent great nither... maybe cus we dreamed of getting married here 15 years ago I was expecting too high expectations butwe shouldn't of been put in what felt like a dirty room

Pros:

* The room was large and comfortable..
* The building is beautiful at a distance.
* Reception staff was friendly.

Cons:

It's a shame to see such a grand historical building in such a neglected state.

Lots of issues I am afraid:

* The "Byron Brasserie" is laughable, outdated - seems to be neglected. Even cocktails they couldn't make in the evening.
* So called breakfast costing £16pp was simply AWFUL - no cooking skills whatsoever, disrespect towards food, just the cheapest frozen ingredients from a supermarket warmed up. "Continental breakfast" is rubbish. "Service" was really bad - upon us entering the place someone shouted from a distance "coffee or tea".
* Coffee.... Just don't order coffee there, it's not coffee.
* Grounds seem to be neglected
* Many windows haven't been cleaned for a while - entangled in spider webs and crawlies.
* The lobby looks like a joke, there's no class.
