Location
No one told us there was no AC in the room, and because it was an interior room we couldn’t open a window. The temperature stayed at a constant 80 degrees. When we asked the staff they gaslit us by saying maintenance was working on it until finally admitting there’s no AC, or the unit is permanently offline.
Personal muy atento a cubrir nuestras necesidades como huespedes
En realidad me gustaria limpieza diaria de la habitacion.
It’s clean and nice and in a good location.
From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, I felt unwelcome at this hotel. Interestingly, two of the male staff members were very friendly and helpful, but most of the women I interacted with were strictly business-oriented and, in my opinion, not particularly warm or welcoming. Having traveled to more than 100 countries across all continents, I have experienced many different levels of hospitality, and this one stood out for the wrong reasons.
At one point, an older staff member openly scolded a younger employee right in front of me, a guest, which made me very uncomfortable. Professional disagreements should be handled privately, not in front of customers.
Another disappointment was that the room rate did not include breakfast, which I feel is something guests should be aware of when considering the value offered.
Overall, the atmosphere lacked the warmth and hospitality I expect when staying at a hotel, and unfortunately, I would not choose to stay here again.
Great location, amazing views, friendly staff
Parking was a bit difficult
Pretty much nothing.
A room for disabled with no windows. If there is a fire in the hallway how do I get out of the room?
Asked for another room, no disabled rooms available so they gave us a double bed room after paying for a king room. No refund of price difference since they said it was the same price.
Booking.com says a breakfast is included. Went down for breakfast and made my way to get a bagel and the attendant asked for my receipt. What receipt? The receipt for $19.99 that you paid for the breakfast?
I said it was included, she said no. I asked for the manager who wasn't available but the front desk clerk called him on the phone. He said no one gets a free breakfast. I showed them the booking receipt where it's clearly indidtaed. He said no free breakfast. I asked if I'm spending $350 for a double room it should at the least include breakfast. He said $19.99 or go somewhere else. I dint understand why at 8am the was no one sitting for breakfast in a sold out hotel.
Never again. People should avoid this hotel at all costs!
Location. It is picturesque. Loved the place and it was really clean. Would recommend this place.
Nothing.
I think the breakfast should have been included.
Very convenient to all the fun in Seward, AK.
The shower was cold in the morning. There was no heat source in the room nor a hair dryer. Breakfast was expensive. I disliked having an interior room with no windows.
Location and cleanliness of the property
Good location
Put us in a room type we didn’t booked and not trying to solve the problem together. Dirty floor. Very low water pressure at the sink tap. Stayed for 2nights but no one come to make to room.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but our stay at the Edgewater Hotel in Seward was extremely disappointing. We have been here since Sunday and are checking out today Friday May 29th, and throughout the entire stay we consistently struggled to receive even the most basic level of housekeeping service.
Every day we had to request clean towels because they were never replaced. We repeatedly asked for our room to at least be touched up — emptying the trash, replacing toilet paper, and exchanging dirty towels — yet those requests were routinely ignored.
What made the experience even more frustrating was that we escalated the issue directly to Paulette, the manager, and the situation still did not improve. After the first two incidents, she provided us with breakfast vouchers, but the room still would not be cleaned or touched up. We asked again the day prior to checkout, and she assured us it would be done. It was not.
I spoke with her again the morning of checkout, and she stated she was embarrassed and understood how frustrating this experience had been for us. However, after I walked away, my entire family heard her announce to the staff, “Hey guys, we are going to get a bad review.” For someone who claims to have been in the hospitality industry for 50 years, this level of professionalism and service is unacceptable.
I understand hotels can become busy, especially in a destination like Seward during peak travel season, but basic cleanliness and responsiveness should never be optional. Unfortunately, the overall impression was that the hotel relies on the fact that many guests are visiting Alaska for a once-in-a-lifetime trip and may never return, rather than focusing on delivering quality service that reflects pride in the property.
The location itself is beautiful, but service matters just as much as scenery. I would be embarrassed to operate a business where guests repeatedly ask for essential housekeeping items and are continuously ignored.
I am a travel agent and personally booked this property for my family and myself. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel to any of my clients. I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes meaningful improvements for future guests.
Sidenote: I would also avoid using the taxi service "Izzy" recommended by the hotel. We scheduled a pickup, and the driver never showed, when we called him he said "He forgot".
Great location beautiful town
Weather lol
Location is great, true to its name it is situated almost at the edge of the water. However, the best part of the hotel would be Paullette, who manages the front desk. She's attentive, funny, and knows all the places to go. She definitely adds to the the friendly, homely atmosphere here. A true treasure of Seward.
Paulette Parson was amazing! Going above and beyond! My husband and one of the hotel staff were not feeling well. She drove to the pharmacy to pick up allergy pills and upset stomach pills for us.
Thank you Paulette 😊
Smaller hotel with spectacular views. It may not be a five star resort, but the staff are outstanding. Kendall and Tommy were amazing to work with! Looking forward to returning to Seward.
Location and Hotel beautiful and very clean.
Queen size bed advertised was the size of a full bed and small and the check-in process was very poor. The check-in process took over 20 minutes with 2 different staff members and the manager on site seemed more interested in talking with other tour group vendors than assisting the issues the new staff members were having. I also asked for an extra pillow to be taken to my room and after a staff member said they would go get one for me to place in the room they were gone in excess of 10 minutes and another staff member had to go get me the pillow since the first staff member was MIA.
