Best Western Troy Inn

I stayed at the Best Western Troy Inn in Troy, Alabama, from August 7–9 and was extremely disappointed with the experience.

When we arrived, the hotel appeared nearly empty, yet the front desk attendant seemed bothered by having to check us in and was neither welcoming nor helpful.

Upon entering our room, we immediately noticed several issues. The door handle and lock were not functioning properly, causing concerns about the security of our belongings. The room also had a strong stale, musty odor, and the toilet ran continuously. Overall, the room felt run-down and in need of significant maintenance.

Within an hour of checking in, I returned to the front desk and requested a different room. I explained my concerns, especially regarding the broken lock. I was told the hotel was sold out, despite the parking lot appearing nearly empty. The only solution offered was to have someone look at the toilet.

Later, we requested additional pillows and were told none were available. We ultimately had to leave the hotel and purchase pillows ourselves, something I have never had to do at any other hotel.

At checkout, I spoke with the morning front desk attendant about the condition of the room and the rude, dismissive, and condescending attitude of the employee I had dealt with the previous evening. She apologized for our experience, but the issues had already significantly impacted our stay.

As a travel advisor, I regularly recommend hotels and accommodations to my clients. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property and will be directing clients to alternative options in the Troy area. I also have a reservation for October 23 that I will be canceling.

The combination of poor room condition, security concerns, lack of basic amenities, and unprofessional customer service made this one of the most disappointing hotel stays I have experienced.

The location was great for where we needed to be for family gatherings.

Room was clean.

The room carpet was nasty, it was “sticky”. I have a one year old that only crawls and his knees, legs and feet were filthy after a few minutes in the room. The shower didn’t close all the way so we heard the water dropping all night long. The lights were not enough, the room was very dark. The chair was dirty too. We would never go back.

Key card had to constantly be programmed during our stay afterwards told it needed batteries that didn’t work either. Then was told I would have to be moved to another room. Informed them we did not want to move and advised that we would be checking out and wanted to be compensated for one night since we were not staying the full time. Found housekeeping and one particular person at front desk very unprofessional. They should also have an engineer onsite to handle this type of problem.

breakfast was okay i was a little uncomfortable and unsettled with the staff on the kitchen area because i’m a single mother of four children i felt very judged i couldn’t get out of there quick enough i didn’t even eat

The location was great and the check in and check out staff were wonderful. The breakfast was adequate but has deteriorated from our earlier visits. There was plenty of hot water! Leave it alone. We felt very safe during our stay.
