sweet rooms, good location, nice people
Pros:

we booked here mainly due to it's location - it's in a lovely little square with other restaurants and shops and it's walking distance to everywhere you may need to go. we booked one of the top floor rooms with the vaulted ceiling and it really was a lovely comfortable well laid out room. The breakfast we had on the second day was really delicious - chef cooked poached eggs. The restaurant downstairs is lively and atmospheric as the building is an old converted bank. All the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay.

Cons:

This is not really a hotel - it's more like a resturant with rooms upstairs they rent out. There's an incidental reception, and no real service. Breakfast is served in the restaurant and is more of an al a carte brunch. When we arrived the radiators were turned off in the room so it was cold - since we were only there for 2 nights it took a while to warm up. There was drifts of cob webs up in the bathroom hanging lightshade. The first time we flushed the loo the mechanism basically fell out of the wall and they had to come and 'fix' it (which meant pushing it back in to wall and instructions to not put too much pressure on the plastic panel.

On the first day we ordered the breakfast package, which promised a yoghurt / granola breakfast bowl, croissants etc, and I swear they have found the smallest ever pastry that can be baked, the smallest every thimble for your granola, and the smallest ever shot glass for your orange juice. It's not clear why breakfast was minaturised like this except for the aesthetic - but when you are paying a good $20 for the deal you want to feel like you've had a proper meal to start the day! Thankfully the omlette came along at a normal portion so we were saved. But it's not a normal hotel breakfast.

Terrible hygiene and cleanliness
Pros:

The hotel is located in a lovely part of The Hague with plenty of options nearby. Also, the restaurant that is in the downstairs of the hotel (run by separate owners) is lovely.

Cons:

The lack of hygiene and cleanliness in the room made me extremely uncomfortable during my stay. It appears to only have been cleaned superficially for quite a while. There were streaks from previous guests in the toilet bowl, in addition to the toilet being dirty in general. Also, the shower was mouldy. The bed smelled of mildew to an extent that I could only sleep on one side. Finally, the room was freezing. There was only a small radiator at the opposite end of the bed in the rather large room and in the separate bathroom. However, the sleeping area had no heating, which is detrimental in an old Dutch building with big windows right next to the bed. I have never been so close to leaving a hotel mid-stay and searching for something else. I don’t recommend anyone stay here, especially not in Winter.
