It was clean and up to date. I loved the activities available. I loved how close to the beach it was and how it was animal friendly.
I wasn’t too happy when the fire alarm went off 5 times throughout the night from the bathroom steam. I understand why it’s there. I just wish it was less sensitive to showers since apparently a lot of people like to take hot ones.
It was great and we will stay there again
Nothing
Our favorite place to stay when we go to the beach! The area is fantastic! Access to to beach and bike baths. Nice play area for the kids too
The outside had lots of things to do
The carpet in rooms seemed very abused and kindof icky.
Lots to do for kids
Room wasn’t ready for awhile
Convenient location
Below par breakfast
Elevators were not working
The buildings needed lots if maintenance
For the money, could find a better facility
Right on the dunes and a short walk to the non-swimming beach. Nice communal fire pit and barbecue area and cool bar. Didn’t have the chance to use the pool.
Comfortable beds and two bathrooms for four people. Full kitchen with everything a family needs: dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots and pans.
Everything is showing it’s age and you can’t swim in the ocean. Washing machines were out of order when we stayed (but they are free when working apparently).
I felt the need to add a review to help boost the hotel’s current rating, because our stay truly exceeded our expectations.
We came with our children, and the hotel vastly exceeded what we were expecting. The rooms were beautiful, practical, and very comfortable, with great beds and pillows, blackout curtains, carpeting, and balconies with ocean views.
The swimming pool was perfect for all ages and, most importantly, at just the right temperature. The jacuzzi was genuinely hot and absolutely hit the spot.
The lobby was another pleasant surprise. There were lots of toys and games for children of different ages, books, and even a whole library of DVDs that guests could borrow and take to their rooms. There is also a piano that guests are welcome to play. These little touches made the hotel feel very family-friendly without being overly focused on children.
And the breakfast deserves a special mention. It was probably the best continental breakfast I’ve had in the US. Yes, there were biscuits and gravy and sausage, but the quality was noticeably better than what you usually find at hotel breakfasts. There were also oatmeal, bagels with spreads, yogurt, fruit, milk, and many other options, including quite a few local products. The coffee was great (possibly local?), and there was real juice rather than the usual sugary drink. Normally, at hotel breakfasts like this, I just have coffee and some oatmeal because I find most hotel breakfast food barely edible. Here, though, I actually looked forward to breakfast.
There are also volleyball nets, places to grill, windbreaks, and bikes available to borrow. There is a restaurant directly adjacent to the hotel, which is very convenient. And the hotel is just a few steps from the boardwalk, the train, and the beach.
One more thing: the current owner took over the hotel about four years ago and has apparently been improving it every year. So I would definitely take some of the older reviews with a grain of salt.
One thing worth mentioning as a minor negative: you can hear the people staying in the room above you. I imagine this could be annoying if you happen to have a group above you that stays up late. If you’re in doubt, I would recommend booking the top floor. You get no noise from above and, of course, the best view. It’s probably worth the small additional cost.
the staff was really friendly and helpful.
we got the one condo that has zero remodels. it was FULL of decor. felt so tiny because there’s SO much stuff in there. so much stuff that it’s not getting cleaned like it should. there was a tiny tiny tiny tiny little bug in one of the “clean” towels, things not working, sink constantly running. just felt kind of gross in there, the carpet is all original, and has a smell… pool was okay. staff was GREAT!
Jaccuzi was closed
The pickle ball courts are new.
Ok so I’ve stayed here 4 times over the years. A few years back they renovated the rooms. This year, I somehow got one that wasn’t updated? It was also half the size of a normal room. Literal shoebox. Also a new thing, they’re only letting people traveling with dogs stay in certain rooms. Our room smelled horribly of urine when we arrived. When we complained to the hotel staff, they just had Lysol spray for us. No offer of actually cleaning or of getting us a different room. We went to the store ourselves and bought cleaning chemicals, a mop, some rags, gloves, and everything we needed to clean the room before we could even bring our suitcases inside. It was filthy. The hot tub is now off limits in daytime and no one under 18 is allowed. I have teen kids and they were bummed. Everything seemed dirty and old and smelly. Def run down. Screen doors have been replaced by screen flaps. And there is no ac in the rooms. Nights can get sweltering.
I like the hot tub and indoor pool and easy access to the ocean.
Shower water temperature seemed to fluctuate, possibly when toilets were flushing?
The pool and hot tub were very relaxing after a long day walking on the beach.
Close proximity to the beach
No AC
