Beautiful building, great rooms. It is old though.
Its located a bit far from town, but all in general is great,
terrible internet on my room
The Hotel overall, the staff, the quality of the food, the room, the pool, and of course, the rooftop sky bar, were great. The sunset view is amazing and you'll struggle to find a better view over the river in Mandalay.
As far as value for money goes, I cannot fault the hotel at all, especially the wonderful staff!!
The only (very minor) down side was the surrounding area; the dredging of the river over the road, the fish market down the street. Locals told me its not the safest area at night, or most aesthetically pleasing area... especially if you dont like fish!
Having said that, that's a reality of Myanmar that we came to see, so we didn't mind. We took taxi's/tuk-tuks out to see the sights. The hotel itself is great, but be aware it's location may not be to everyone's taste.
Very enjoyable and relaxing with very helpful staff
Terrific hotel for the price. Staff continually going out of their way to help. Clean and good services. Loved the rooftop restaurant.
Can be further improved to night grade.. need a professional help
The hotel staff here is one of the best in the world. From check in to check out every wish was accommodated with a pleasing smile. The breakfast buffet was excellent and our evening meal on the rooftop terrace was exceptional as well. What a warm welcome to Myanmar!
Everything was fine - except the bathtub leaked and we kept losing wifi connections.
We enjoyed the view on the terrace for the sunset. The staff is very nice. But this hotel isn't the best place to stay in Mandalay because it's getting old now. It's far from downtown, no restaurant outside next to the hotel. The place is very noisy at every hour of the day. So I wouldn't recommend to stay there.
excellent; it was good.
Comfortable room. Good food on rooftop bar with views of the Irrawaddy River. A convenient place to stay to get the boat to Bagan.
Being out of the way means every trip starts with haggling over taxi fares, which might or might not be your cup of tea. For me metered taxis and the use of those meters makes for a pleasant trip. Arguing over fares for every trip does not, particularly so, when first asking price is often ten times or more the normal price.
The sky bar view of the river & the sourrounding city is awesome. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Buffett is good. Hotel is clean but the downside is that the shower in my room is no pressure at all. Their bathrooms need to be upgraded & their fitness area. I think this hotel has a lot of potentials, just need to remodel the bathrooms specially.
The distance from the city is the only major drawback but there is a taxi man on site to get you around. On the other hand it's within easy walking distance of the departure point for the Irrawaddy ferry. Rooms excellent apart from poor showers and staff very helpful.
The hotel location is near the river front. However, the area is not developed. If they have developed the place into a night spot for tourists, it would be fantastic. The Sky Bar has a great view of the river but it is very hot in the evening. It would be fantastic to provide some kind of cover for the visitors against the sun.
Good middlerange hotel, amazing rooftop, not so amazing poolarea.
We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay at Ayarwaddy River View Hotel. The location is upside/downside. It's right across the street from the river so great sunset views, and close (1.2 km) to the arrival point for boats coming from Bagan as well as very close (500 meters) to the "tourist jetty" for boats to Mingun. Downside of the location is that it's pretty far removed from most of the restaurants where most foreign travelers typically go. But taxis are readily available at the hotel and pretty cheap.
The rooftop "Sky Bar" is great. Lovely space, sunset views, free daily cocktail (generally rum/whiskey sour) and a free xylophone player from 7 - 8 p.m and free marionnette show from 8 - 9 p.m. We also had dinner there our first night and it was very good.
The room was very nice. Comfortable beds, good curtains, good shower/tub combo, lock box. We were 4th floor city view so not too noisy with street noise etc. The wifi was strong and reliable but the air con was a bit weak. Breakfast was very good with an excellent selection of western and Asian choices.
A stand-out was the service. In general we felt the staff members in all locations were very attentive, friendly, courteous, and couldn't do enough for us.
All in all it was a good choice of hotel, although another time we would also consider other options closer to the hub.
The staff was were helpful especially the day manager who provided with a lot of assistance. Good restaurant with a puppet show. A bit far from the city center but lots of available transportation.
A good view of the Ayarwaddy River at Sunset and close to the Jetty for the Bagan Day Ferry. Needs some Umbrellas for shade on the roof if you get there for a drink a little early. Nice breakfast and friendly Staff
I chose this hotel due to it's proximity to the river. I naively thought that we could stroll alongside it's banks and have a nice view on a walkway. However, the banks are crowded with lean-tos and shantys of families. The street is busy.
The nearest restaurant directly on the river was delicious. It was a 10 minute walk away. The hotel restaurant had no vegetarian options. They were able to make us a cheese/veggie pizza the first night, but the second night put chicken on it.
The room was sparse, but comfortable. The toilet didn't work well and we had to call housekeeping twice to have it fixed.
This hotel is very far from anything apart from the river. It is only close to the jetty where the passenger ferry to Mingun departs from.
