The best thing about our stay was the ladies at the front desk. They were so friendly and talkative.
The room is very outdated and dingy. Light bulbs needed to be replaced. The walls are paper thin. You can hear absolutely everything that was going on. We were on the bottom floor and unfortunately we had a bunch of people above us stomping back and forth the whole time.
We were out there for a concert at the Caverns, so we basically just slept there. Or, I should say we tried to get some sleep in between all the stomping and noise.
For the amount that we paid for the room, I was expecting a little better accommodations.

The room was clean the towels were fluffy and the sheets were crisp. Despite the highway being very close it couldn’t be heard. The staff was very nice and had great recommendations for supper. Would stay there again.

Very rustic experience. Very basic for the price we paid for one night stay. Get ready for basic appliances, stove, and very small microwave. Coffee pot only serves 3 cups (very small old appliance) NO Kerig present for coffee (no single cup Kerig). You must let the small coffee pot cool before you place the prepackaged coffee in the pot (only two for room-non decaf).
Very-Very poor lighting through-out the cabin and the road to the cabin does not have lights or pathway lights. Hard to see. Cabin is not suitable for small children as the cabin is not-in anyway child proof.
It is a pet friendly cabin, all linens, couch, and pillows had the odor of a wet dog. Dead bugs in garden tub.
We stayed overnight, but would have appreciated previous renters' views and comments before we booked, Over-priced for the accommodations.
Cabin was paid in advance via Hotels.com, and the Smokehouse lodge (elderly clerk) seemed confused as to giving me a key when I discussed Hotels.com gave a security code to use as a keyless entry.There is not keyless entry. A card at desk issued for entry once you leave your credit card information on file for "incidentals."
We be staying on Swanee Campus (Uni of South) for future seminars.
Private AirBnb's are cheaper, more up-to-date, and safe with campus security on site. More than adequate lighting for security. We hope this is helpful information for the next potential renter.
No future lodging for us at the Smokehouse Lodge.

I wish I could share the photos I took. Feces on the toilet, lot of hair on the floor, hair, all around the toilet, hair on the pillowcases, dog hair and stains on the chairs, the floors were so dirty. It turned the bottom of my feet black, the faucets were dirty and the smell was horrible. I showed the pictures to the lady at the front desk and she switched us rooms. The second room smelled even worse and was just as dirty, except for there was not feces on the back of the toilet. For the price I expected much better.

Pros:

My room had areas that had not been cleaned for a very long time. Dirt and dust had built up on surfaces. The bathtub was not in great condition. The property offers limited service and the restaurant is only open limited hours on weekends. There isn’t much in the area so be prepared to drive for a good meal.

Beautiful property I wish i stayed on the weekend when they have live music and the smoke house serving food. I highly recommend this place, ive been on the road for 6 weeks and this is my favorite. Excellent.
