I have stayed in worst places, but I was surprised it wasn't nicer given the cost of the room.
Pros:

Breakfast was very good

Cons:

No elevator and we were on the second floor. Had to use outside staircase and had to carry heavy suitcases. Also, towels were very thin. Room was dark with heavy orange colour on the walls. Television was on a setting that had an auditory problem. It yelled instructions at us everytime we touched the remote.

Pros:

The floors looked newly remodeled. Breakfast was good. Husband is picky about breakfast gravy and he liked the gravy. Shower had good pressure. Beds were comfortable. Easy access to freeway.

Pros:

The Best Western Statesville is about average. Didn’t find the staff overly pleasant or helpful. The room should have been cleaner with mold in the bathroom and bedroom floor dirty with gaps in the tile.
