Socializing with the other guest at the pool
Pros:

The front desk , personnel were very helpful , courteous and polite.
They made it very exciting to be there and full of advice.

Cons:

The swimming pool was closed , that was the main reason I stayed there.
Last time I had a great experience with other people staying at the best western .
They agree that it's one of the best places they have stayed .
3 other couples that were staying there.
It was a bummer the pool was closed , I didn't get a chance to visit.

Pros:

The location was close to our conference

Cons:

The rooms were dirty. People were loud. Our key was set to stop working on the day after we got there with a two day stay

It was okay.
Pros:

Staff at check in were great!!

Cons:

2nd shift staff around 9:45pm we not very helpful they weren't at the desk didn't answer the phone when called multiple times. Toilet paper was almost gone when we checked it, which isn't horrible but we did run out.

All in all it was very good!
Pros:

Breakfast was good, had a lot of variety.

Cons:

We had to put a deposit for the room, never had to do this before. We paid by credit card so why require a deposit.

Best Western Altoona, Iowa.
Pros:

There's a reading light on the left side of the headboard that is being held in by electrical tape and has the lit end covered with electrical tape so as to be unusable, which fell out and hit my wife in the middle of the night. Thankfully, no injury other than the scare. The lower lighting on the bed has wiring hanging at the footboard area on both sides. The body wash bottle in the shower was empty, and the shampoo bottle nearly so, not discovered until I was in the shower and all wet. I had a bar of soap in my toiletries so I was able to finish my shower. I replaced the two now empty bottles with full ones I got off a housekeeping cart.

Conditions in the room were disappointing.
Pros:

Location close to the event I was attending.

Cons:

The carpet in my room was threadbare, there was a flying bug in the bathroom, the bathroom had a funky smell so I ran the fan, different areas in the hotel had cracks in the plaster, or missing small pieces. Overall cleanliness was decent, but not great. The tile in the foyer was slick because of the snow brought in on shoes.

The location was great, but would not stay there again
Pros:

Pancake machine did not work---no microwave in eating area ---no decaf coffee in eating area --- no eggs one day --- no real or liquid cream several days --have celiac --they ran out of Cherrios and put a cereal with wheat in that bin causing cross contamination --- In room we liked the bed reading light, the light within the mirror in the bathroom and the motion lights that came on when you got out of bed a night

see above about breakfast area --- carpeting in room was damp --no drawers to put clothing in --room felt too crowded to move around freely
