It is very well placed for visiting the area. The pub is a lovely olde world one. The meal we had was superb.
The room was lovely but the bathroom is in need of an update. There was a bath but the shower was just attached to the taps not on the wall. There was no screen or curtain so the floor got very wet. Remove the bath and install a walk in shower. The balcony was great and we had a lovely view but there were cobwebs everywhere and the wood needed treating.
The food was very good, if all a bit pricey. Special mention for Sasha who was really helpful and welcoming! As a solo guest, she made my stay!
The room (No 1) was a disappointment; very overpriced. It needed a face-lift - furniture was old and tired. The bathroom was functional although the over bath shower had no wall attachment so a shower wasn't an option! The balcony was the only redeeming feature!
Great to have a balcony. Staff great.
Balcony very unclean. Spider website, dried bord poop, windows filthy, decking filthy.
Under the best full of dust, hair and other waste.
Shower not on a bracket to stand under amd no shower curtain meaning floor got flooded. Bathroom window could not be opened
Beans at breakfast came n a tiny sauce pot, barely one desert spoons worth. Had to ask for milk orange juice, salt, teaspoon on 1st morning.
The choice at breakfast was excellent.
The evening meals menu had a great choice of dishes
The beer was lovely
Comfortable beds
A lovely location and quiet and peaceful place to stay. We loved relaxing on the seats outside our room in the garden area. Nice breakfast included (although not amazing for vegetarians) and an ambient breakfast room.
Our room was quite run-down. It's still comfy but there were cobwebs and broken blinds and everything needs updating. It was really hot when we stayed and the bathroom window doesn't open and the towel heater couldn't be turned off so we were sweltering.
The location, the warm pub vibe, good food and super friendly staff.
Bedroom clean but a bit dated, mattresses too soft (old). No opening windows in the bathroom struck me as odd. Towel heater could not be switched off.
Bar manager was helpful
Location. Staff. Food. Accommodation
Noisy upstairs guests for 2 nights
The only thing stopping me from providing a glowing review was the fact that I had great trouble booking a table to eat each night.
I messaged the pub via booking.com booking a table for each night and did not get a reply, I therefore phoned the pub and was told by a member of staff that they had seen my request but the person who deals with the messages was off sick. I therefore requested a table each night only to find when we arrived this had no been done, I therefore booked again only to find when we came down to eat at 7 the following evening, which was a Sunday that they stopped serving at 6 and I didn’t have a booking anyway.
I did manage to book for the next two nights.
I had booked our stay as a birthday treat for my wife as we had eaten there the year before and loved it.
All the staff were great but for some unknown reason they didn’t understand a simple request for a table.
Delightful stay everything was catered for and clean. This was a last minute stay for us but we would definitely come again. The pub and the breakfast was equally as nice and stiffkryvis very quaint.
Possibly a shower would have been better for us but this is only a minor thing.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Bed was comfy, pillows soft. Lovely view from our balcony We could see deer and hares from the balcony and hear owls hooting at night. Food was good. Staff friendly. Good location for nature reserves - not too far from Titchwell and Cley Nature Reserves. Close to Walshingham Light Railway - visited Walsingham Abbey - it had a lovely woodland - we saw stoats. Sandringham 40 minutes away.
Toiletries hadn't been topped up/replaced on arrival - we were provided with minimal hand wash. We had to ask three times to get them topped up. Breakfast, some mornings they put the toaster out some mornings they didn't. Two slots in the toaster only toasted on one side. Staff said they had been asking for weeks for a new toaster - this hasn't been implemented yet. No loose sugar to sprinkle on your breakfast cereal - had to ask each morning. I mean who puts sugar lumps on their cereal.
Staff very friendly, food very good. Location great for north Norfolk coast. Room pleasant, bed comfortable, bathroom large.
The radiator was on full in the bathroom on a very hot week. There was also a layer of dust on the furniture. Maybe the room hadn't been used in a while. We soon cleaned it up though. Didn't spoil our stay
