When making my reservation, I had shared with the reservations agent that I lived and worked in Macau for 15 years and that my wife and I were returning after four years. The agent responded warmly and expressed appreciation for our visit, which set a positive tone and raised my expectation

The airport transfer was booked through the hotel. The vehicle itself was well-equipped, clean, and very comfortable. The greeter was welcoming upon arrival and guided us efficiently to the pickup point. The car arrived within two minutes, and we were promptly on our way — all of which was greatly appreciated.

However, the journey to the hotel, although short, fell short of our expectations. There was no communication or engagement from the greeter during the drive. Having lived and worked in Macau for 15 years, this was not an issue for us personally, as we are already familiar with the destination and what it has to offer.

That said, I would have expected a brief orientation or introduction, especially for guests who may be visiting for the first time. Even a simple overview of the hotel or nearby attractions would have enhanced the experience. If language confidence was a concern, I believe an effort could still have been made — my wife is Singaporean Chinese, and we would have appreciated any attempt to engage.

Given your Forbes 5-Star standard and the consistency the hotel has maintained over the years, I would expect this level of personalised service to be part of the experience.

The room was well appointed, and I particularly appreciated the pre-installed charging cable—it was a thoughtful and convenient touch. The soundproofing was also excellent; we didn’t hear any external noise throughout our stay, which made for a very comfortable experience.

After settling in and preparing to head out, we realised that the in-room safe wasn’t working. To avoid losing time, we proceeded with our dinner plans and contacted Facilities upon our return at around 22:00.Facilities responded promptly and attended to the issue without delay, ultimately replacing the safe door. Following this, the safe functioned well for the remainder of our stay.

The view would have been amazing, but I understand that clear visibility in Macau is something to be cherished 😄—so no fault there at all.

I’m aware that renovations are underway, which is certainly timely, as the bathroom is starting to look a little tired and would benefit from a refresh.

Everything was just fine.

This was a memorable experience that felt so personal. ALL the staffs were professional and friendly. But what made it special is how tentative they are and the effort they make (our house keeping staff wrote us a hand written note to welcome us). We had the ocean view room which was incredible and the bathroom has a huge tube which is great for couple to enjoy. The hotel offers some top notch dinning options which are incredible as well. Great value for what you get.

Very comfortable stay, room has a complimentary minibar and had fruit (dragonfruit, orange) as well. Very spacious bathroom, with a nice walk-in wardrobe. Nice view of the city and other side of Macau. Convenient shuttle service into the main part of town too.

Amazing staff, whether is it the concierge, front desk, in-room dining or housekeeping department. Everyone was friendly and delivered top-notch service. Location is outstanding as there are plentiful of F&B outlets nearby.

The location of the hotel is scenic overlooking the whole Macau.

We have stayed in many different hotels around the world, but our stay at the Altira was the one where everything truly felt "first class" and lived up to its hype and more so. Would definitely come here again and recommend anyone else visiting Macau to stay here. In fact, we were both wishing we could have extended our stay!
