It’s a good hotel
Location and bar staff a good range of drinks but hour last night there stop serving the only decent lager they had which was Fosters and replaced it with cleaning fluid so we have decided after staying there for many years to try somewhere new
Staff were extremely helpful. Accommodated kids as it was a dance competition. Family friendly hotel
I chose the Doric Hotel for its seafront location and family-friendly reputation, and I want to start by saying the reception team were genuinely welcoming and polite when we arrived – they tried their best to make check-in smooth but sadly our room was not ready till 3pm.
Unfortunately, the positives largely ended there. Our room felt quite dated, with worn carpets, tired decor, and furniture that had clearly seen better days. The bathroom was functional but could have done with a deep clean; there were some lingering marks and the shower pressure was disappointingly weak. While the bed was reasonably comfortable, the overall room felt smaller and more basic than the website photos suggested, and had a stale smell.
Breakfast was OK, the type of thing you would expect.
The pools looked promising, but the indoor one was overcrowded during our stay, and had extreamly strong smell of chlorine. Changing room area was very dirty.
The evening entertainment was not great while we were there which is great shame as we always enjoy a good caberet.
it made the public areas quite noisy late into the evening if you wanted a quieter night.
For the price, I was hoping for a bit more polish and consistency. It’s in a decent spot on the promenade, and the staff are kind, but overall the experience didn’t meet expectations. I’d hesitate to recommend it unless you’re purely after a budget base and don’t mind the dated feel.
Reception and bar staff
Nothing
Great price.
Great service
Thank you
Absolutely everything about the place. Always have & Always will do !
Nothing was what we paid for
After requesting a disabled access room on arrival I had nothing to help me. No ground floor room no walk in shower and no suitable parking no help with our luggage! Very poor facilities. The carpet was soiled and the room was not clean.
We stayed at the doric as we were visiting the winter garden to the motown night, stayed for 2 nights and the staff are really friendly the main man on reception couldn't do enough for us would definitely stay again
1/5 stars – Avoid this overpriced dump
Tiny, dated room with a horrible damp smell and stained carpet. WiFi was basically non-existent, food was awful (pasta was inedible), and everything felt cheap and neglected despite the high price. Noise from downstairs kept us awake all night. Complete waste of money—never again.
Ok. This hotel let us down on our 50th wedding anniversary. What got us was the vile musty stench in the room. The misssus had to go out and buy air freshener. We inquired with housekeeping who assured us the rooms were cleaned frequently (what with I would add???). No chance of a room. Maybe we were the unlucky ones? We live on a farm and I can tell you this
..mucking out the horses was more appealing than sleeping in that room. Mouldy, damp, musty. We shall not return. What waste on what was meant to be our 50th celebration.
Lovely welcoming entrance
We had prompt check in
Room was lovely staying in a suite
Beds were comfortable and very clean.
Decor is dated but it adds to character.
Hot tub and steam room was a perfect temperature.
We had dinner in restaurant it was incredible I had salmon and husband had the lamb would have easily paid over a £100 for that meal if was eating out.
Breakfast cooked to order fresh and hot
Prompt service stay go the extra mile.
This hotel has got it right.
Can’t wait to visit again in the near future
1/5 stars – Absolute disaster – Do NOT stay at the Doric Hotel, Blackpool
I cannot warn people strongly enough about this place. We booked a stay at the Doric Hotel thinking it would be a decent, affordable base for a Blackpool trip, paying £150 per room for bed and breakfast. What a colossal mistake. The entire hotel feels like it’s trapped in a 1970s time warp—dated, faded, and completely neglected. The decor is tired and worn out, everything looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades, and the whole building has this depressing, institutional vibe.
The moment we walked in, we were hit by an overpowering smell—like an old people’s home mixed with stale carpets and years of accumulated mustiness. It was so bad it clung to our clothes and made us feel nauseous the entire time. The rooms weren’t much better; everything felt grimy and unloved, with thin walls and uncomfortable beds that did nothing to help us rest.
The so-called “entertainment” in the evenings was pitiful—cheap, low-effort acts that barely qualified as background noise. We sat through one painful night and couldn’t bear to go back down. The bar beer tasted suspiciously watered down, weak and flat, like they were stretching every pint to save pennies. For the prices they charge, it’s insulting.
But the real horror was the fire safety issues. I noticed several fire doors that were either propped open, didn’t close properly, or had damaged self-closing mechanisms. In a multi-storey hotel packed with families, this is utterly unacceptable. It left me genuinely uneasy and unable to sleep properly, lying awake worrying about what would happen in an emergency. How this place passes any inspection is beyond me.
We paid good money for what should have been a comfortable stay, but the Doric was so grim and uncomfortable that I couldn’t wait to check out and leave. It’s not fit for human habitation in its current state—seriously, avoid this hotel at all costs. Even if it was half the price, it wouldn’t be worth the misery. Save yourself the regret and book literally anywhere else in Blackpool. This place is a shocking disappointment.
Super weekend stay as part of a large group of dancers. The location overlooking the sea and opposite a tram stop as well as the facilities within the hotel were great for us. The food was excellent, efficiently served (our main waiter was Ian and he was lovely) and with a good choice. I appreciated having a room on the top floor as the floors tend to be rather creaky so I didn’t have to hear anyone moving about in the room above. The all-inclusive bar is a treat. The staff on reception were welcoming and other staff friendly.
Really nice hotel. Staff friendly and nicely cooked food. Served by Ian who worked really hard to make sure service was good and efficient
Room was big but expensive. Food was nice and served promptly.
There was a line dancing convention on that we didnt know about. So the main entertainment and restraunt were taken over completly. We were sent to a smaller dull entertainment room even the dance floor had the seating for breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast was nice. The bathroom was cold and it was noisy from the bathroom window
The noise from the window, and it was cold when we got in the room but that got seen to straight away. It would be useful if you had a cashmachine so we dident have to go looking for change.
