Central location, car park
Very small room and we were told we would have to pay for breakfast as we had booked through booking.com and they needed to retrieve their commission.
great location near to town. room size good and bathroom also
couldn’t open bedroom window as indian takeaway directly opposite. car parking advertised as available but only 5 spaces for 20 odd rooms- alternative parking on street but all nearby streets had time limits so a real treck to residential area and long way to carry bags. restaurant closed for refurbishment and being turned into a nepali/indian theme- not sure that fits inside a hotel. hotel generally tired.
The location, parking ( 5 bays ), staff were excellent as was the breakfast (£10pp extra when we went and worth it ).
Not so much a didn't like , the room was very basic but that is reflected in the price
Friendly staff, room was fine but basic. I've stayed there before and it's fine - if you want a really posh, up-market, super-duper hotel, you need to go elsewhere.
A pity they couldn't provide an early breakfast - not even a continental (cereal and toast/roll/bread).
the room was good the bedding & towels were perhaps the cleanest we’ve ever seen
after a exhausting day walking around golf course in the heat was looking forward to just chilling watching football on TV
but it didn’t work asked reception but they said they would mention to manager
Breakfast really good but room decor in dining room needs updating
Bed was comfortable
Bathroom was in need of a deep clean, dust on kettle, dust window panes, floor could use a deep clean
Room was comfortable - except for damage to ceiling due to water leak
I appreciate renovations are required. Advance notice would have been courteous, as kitchen was closed. Staff tried hard, but service was lacking due to ongoing upgrades. Very expensive overnight stay, £165 for 2 people B&B
Great location central to Dunbar
Tv wasn’t working
Shower curtain hanging off
Place needs a total upgrade looked like the room wasn’t dusted in months
Breakfast was iffy, pay for what you expect I suppose
Location ok. Was convenient for family funeral.
Hotel very dated and needs to be taken up to standard. Not the cleanest with bathroom fittings not properly secured, would have benefited from a good vacuuming as carpet had debris lying about and old chairs were full of dust etc. As for breakfast time lack of service and communication no milk at counter etc, never even asked if everything ok even when we checked out..
Lovely hosts, good location and a clean room.
Price was a little high for what we got.
Great location and exceptional staff.
Great and very reasonable priced bar.
Nothing not to like
Location.
Staff helpful and pleasant.
Strange smell in corridor snd bedroom - maybe of food cooking from shops below..
Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for refurbishment.
Central location and very convenient for train station
Hotel has seen better days, and the room was ok but sealants in en-suite were black and mouldy. Also left a phone charger by accident, identified this quickly and informed fhe hotel, and location of the charger in the room, but it was never forwarded despite my offer to pay costs.
Location for us was perfect. Kyle on reception looked after us snd helped store our electric bikes. Breakfast was nice.
We were given 2 keys, 1 for the room, 1 for the front door. They locked the doors at 10pm so knew we would need to use the front door key as we were watching the World Cup in a local pub. Upon our return, the front door key didn’t work!! Thankfully a downstairs window was ajar and we managed to get in.
At breakfast we had to wait 45 mins for our food, it wasn’t busy so no idea why. My husband mentioned the front door key issue to one of the staff which was met by “are you sure” and tested the key only to find that yes we were sure… the key did not fit the lock!! His answer? We should have googled the number and called… really?? Who on earth thinks that this is acceptable.
Property is tired and needs refurbishing. Where we stored our bikes, at the back with no security or shelter, it was an absolute dump (with a full skip of rubbish). Unfortunately we could find nowhere else at short notice.
Location was good
Staff weren’t very friendly, rooms were not clean , a patron helped us more than the staff
Beat hotel in dunbar good location
Really enjoyed my stay at Royal Macintosh Hotel. The place has a unique character, and after chatting with the staff, I found out about its connection to the RMS Mauretania, which made it even more interesting. I also heard about the refurbishment plans and how they're bringing in a Himalayan touch alongside the hotel's maritime heritage. The idea of going from sea-inspired history to the spirit of the Himalayas is something quite special and not something you see every day.
The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it felt like a place with a story rather than just another hotel.
If you're looking for proper hospitality and somewhere with a bit of character, I'd definitely recommend a visit. Looking forward to seeing the refurbishment when it's finished and will definitely be back soon.
