Location was great as was the room and breakfast. Cute little hotel.
Only advice is to lock belongings up.. a small incident thankfully but I would still return

Wonderful spot. Gorgeous grounds with wildlife. Toucans right outside our door. The restaurant is top notch. Easy to walk around. View of volcano. All tours picked up right at front.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Monte Real in La Fortuna and were very happy with both the service and the location. The property has a lovely natural feel, with a peaceful rolling river at the back that creates a true Pura Vida atmosphere, quiet, green, and relaxing.

The staff were outstanding throughout our stay. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely helpful, always ready with a smile and assistance whenever needed.

The complimentary breakfast was excellent, with several delicious options to choose from each morning. Our room was comfortable and well maintained, with thoughtful touches like a fridge and a modern shower with convenient dispensers for both body wash and hair products.

The hotel is centrally located and very walkable to shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and nearby parks, making it easy to explore La Fortuna on foot.

Overall, Hotel Monte Real offers great value, charm, and warm hospitality. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting La Fortuna.

We booked our stay at Hotel Monte Real last minute when in La Fortuna. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Our room was spotless, and the restaurant food and service was unbelievable! Everything was made to order and it was delicious. In the morning we had a clear view of Arenal from our room and other spots on the property. Check in and check out were easy and the front desk staff were outstanding. I highly recommend staying here when travelling to La Fortuna!

The breakfast dining was great with a calm, peaceful location right on the water. We enjoyed searching for frogs in the pond area. Very convenient to walk into town.

Beautiful property. Outdoor shaded restaurant overlooking a creek. Delicious fruit and food. Well worth the price.

I very much enjoyed staying at this hotel. Guest service reserved our tours with pickup and drop off included. The daily breakfast was delicious. There’s a river that runs through the back property and you can take a nice stroll and enjoy the nature. Shopping and restaurant locations were walking distance.

Clean and spacious rooms with a lovely view of the volcano from our balcony. The restaurant food was excellent and the waiting staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

a return visit as it is our favourite of three hotels we have stayed in over the years in fortuna. just a couple of blocks from all that the downtown centre offers, the quiet location on the river and the grounds make it an easy choice. The rooms are nice but the real charm is the habitat provided by its location on the river bend. The river, trees and flowers bring in a lot of birds and an overnight stay by a sloth! The grounds keepers were quick to point it out to me, as well as the toucan that patrols the stream.
A couple of blocks walk and there are restaurants with live music etc.

Breakfast was enjoyable, and the restaurant staff were friendly and polite. However, the hotel room and grounds could benefit from some well needed updates to enhance the overall guest experience.

Nice simple clean hotel!

I really enjoyed sitting on the little patio outside my room to have a snack or have a drink. I looked at beautiful flowers in that setting.

The staff are nice and helpful. Check-in was easy and pleasant.


The best thing about this hotel is breakfast. You can choose from about 6 hot meals and you get a plate of fruit (or many plates) and coffee. They have an entirely vegan hot meal, which was great for us.

We choose this hotel because of its location. It was easy to walk everywhere, to get something to eat or just to visit. The room was quite big : 2 queen beds, a fridge, a coffee maker and a large balcony facing the Arenal Volcano. The beds were comfortable, and we had no issues with the AC or hot water.
There was a small pool by the restaurant that we used (nobody else) and it was quite refreshing after a long day.
The restaurant serves an ALC breakfast in the morning and it was very good!
Check-in, check-out was fast, and the desk staff was friendly.

Loved our stay at this hotel! Room was immaculate with an excellent view of the volcano. Breakfast was good but the grounds were gorgeous. Driving up, you would never think it it was so nice inside!!

Hotel Monte Real was perfect for our stay in La Fortuna! We loved being right on the river but such a close walk into the center of town. Beautiful and clean facilities. The staff was so attentive, especially Oldis the receptionist. Breakfast was amazing, overlooking the river, and the we loved our excursions booked through the hotel and Tulu travel. It is seriously such a wonderful hotel and we treasured our stay there!
