Samuel's Boutique Hotel

This was our favorite place to stay during our three week car trip through the states up to Tobermory on the Bruce Peninusla and back to the states. What did we like? First of all, Samuel's was quiet and serene. No traffic noise. The view was of nature with flowers and a bit of a zen garden right our our room's sliding glass door. More natural views beyond our little garden to the riverbank of the Maitland River. Since our room in the building was one story, we had not outer guests moving about over our heads. Peaceful. Our room was spacious, the beds were wonderful, the shower was different with a stone floor and a glass door so it felt open and not enclosed. Our breakfasts each morning reminded us of Europe--cold cuts, yummy little pastries, Danishes and breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, good, strong coffee--and even an espresso machine. One night we took advantage of Samuel's limited room service menu and enjoyed our first taste of Sticky Toffee Pudding--delicious! They even greeted us with a Happy Anniversary card and a sweet arrangement of wild flowers. We both felt a welcome relief from the typical corporate branded hotels & motels and left feeling refreshed and happy with our stay. Well-done, Samuel's!! Thank you.

The photos on the site did not match for example there were no toweling robes in the room as was shown in the photo and are to be expected in a boutique hotel.

Breakfast was cold buffet but very good. Bed was good.

This boutique hotel is very clean, quiet and comfortable. Close to Goderich - 2 minute drive. The staff are super friendly and accommodated my gluten allergy at the buffet breakfast that was included with our stay. A beautiful view and walk out patio with well kept gardens made our stay feel so peaceful. Nice touch with a little welcome treat upon arrival. Highly recommend !

just came back from a weekend here, a totally wonderful experience.
The owner was very gracious, beautiful room and view from the balcony window was a serene back yard instead of a parking lot. The continental breakfast was better than anything we have experienced while travelling

Location is a bit removed from town center, but that made it quiet for sleeping…

A pet friendly stay with a nice trail and field to walk your dogs. Very nice breakfast as well.

Everyone was very friendly and we had the added surprise of a blanket, dog bowl, and treat for our pup when we arrived! Other personal touches like fresh flowers in the room and a card with the time of sunset made things more special!

We chose Samuels to stay at as a family because it was close to the things we wanted to do. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable, and I appreciated the daily
housekeeping. I thought the hotel would have better views for the price, but as we weren’t at the hotel much during the day that was fine. The majority of the staff were great and kind to my kids.
However, I have anaphylaxis due to a nut allergy and was a bit concerned when I saw the breakfast buffet had several nut items. I asked the person at the front desk if she could tell me what had nuts and what didn’t, and she shrugged and said it would be hard to guess. It might be helpful in the future, given many people have food allergies or sensitivities these days, to make a list of allergens for the items served seeing as the breakfast was the exact same the 3 days we were there. Luckily I was able to find enough to eat without nuts and didn’t have a reaction from any cross-contamination.

The free continental Breakfast was one of the best I have seen. Great selection and delicious. Room and property were very nice.

The food service - breakfast and cheese plate in the afternoon was superb. Beautifully presented.

Staff was welcoming and pleasant, lobby was serene, welcoming and cool on a a very hot day! So refreshing! Check in quick and easy. Room was clean and well appointed with the little touches that made it feel boutique as advertised-toiletries, flowers, nicely stocked mini fridge which had reasonable costs for items. Bathroom area/shower was spacious. Fireplace and TV would be cozy for a winter visit. We had the "village view" and there was not traffic noise once the door was closed, it was not an issue at all. Lovely grounds to sit or take a walk if you wanted. European style breakfast was delicious and complimented the boutique atmosphere of the hotel. Very conveniently located 1km outside of Goderich, it was easy to spend the day at the beach, visit the market in the square and have dinner out and not feel like we were in the car alot. Would definitely recommend and return!
