Cons:

The lounge and bar was closed for cleaning. We were really looking forward to having some drinks for my husband’s 40th and we’re really disappointed it was closed

Value for money on the deal of £189 B&B

Cons:

Pros:

Great location, staff were all great and the food in the 1892 restaurant was terrific.

Cons:

Rooms are looking dated. Spa also needs repairs/ updated. We stayed in a woodland lodge and there was lots of minor issues which all present a poor image collectively. Some real basic maintenance which has already been pointed out in other reviews.
Does not seem to align or compete with other 5 star properties.

Lovely stay with some minor inconveniences
Pros:

The staff are very friendly & attentive. The room & hotel were spotlessly clean. The breakfast was plentiful & good quality produce. Nice little extras in the room. Great location but unless you're into hill walking you would need a car. Very close to the Theatre. Lovely views, on a good day.

Cons:

Claims to be dog friendly, however dogs are only allowed in your room, they are not allowed in any part of the hotel. We stayed in a Woodland Lodge. Its not in Woodland at all. Whilst there are some trees, the lodges are basically further up the carpark. Whilst the Lodge rooms are lovely & very spacious there are extortionately overpriced for what is essentionally a motel room. The hotel prices are also extortionate. When checking our bill I later saw that I had donated £2 to trees. Ok only £2 but I should have been asked! The actual castle itself does not make up much of the hotel, has it is tiny. The hotel is a mix of add-ons & separate buildings, which is not great when the weather is torrential & you have to put your waterproofs on to use the spa & go for breakfast.

Fabulous Fonab
Pros:

Beautiful location, wonderful food and wine and a relaxing spa all contribute to a relaxing stay in a picturesque part of the world. Treat yourself to dinner and paired wines in Sandemans restaurant - it was superb.

Pros:

We were greeted by cheerful concierge and very helpful receptionist who allowed us to check in earlier.
Room was excellent well furnished with high quality furniture & fittings with lovely view from balcony.
We had diner in a pallacious dinning room. Service was excellent and curtious. Food choice was diverse to ensure satisfaction and variety. Presentation was very good with my main course had TWO vegetables which is unusual now a days apart from potatoes. Please to say it wasn't so called 'Cordon bleu' wholesome traditional freshly cooked food.
Choice of breakfast and service was excellent.

Cons:

1. The downstairs toilet near reception was smelling badly with very poor ventilation & dark with dim lights and black toilet fittings!
2.my partner had excellent shepherd's pie served with lots of carrots in butter. It needed one more green coloured vegetable to improve presentation as well from nutritional value .
Generally in all these 4star hotels Chiefs lack NUTRITIONAL KNOWLEDGE.
Free to circulate amongst your cleints.

Pros:

Beautiful building and location
Food was excellent
Swimming pool and spa area was very nice

Cons:

Staff were unorganised on arrival and walked into our room without knocking with the dog bed that was forgotten but a £30 charge applied for. Biscuits came yet another hour later.
Would not view this hotel as dog friendly

Nice but not amazing
Pros:

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the concierge. Restaurant staff remembered preferences at breakfast next morning. Restaurant food good quality. Just a bit disappointed in bedroom - curtain hanging off rail and headboard vinyl peeling. Spa lockers were not clean with many not working. Only one shower operational in ladies changing and would have appreciated a spinner to dry swimsuit.
