Fantastic experience. The location is great -- walking distance to everywhere you might want to go. The rooms are simple and clean. If you are taller (I'm 6'3"), be aware that everything is a little smaller in Mexico, but no show-stoppers. The view was great from our second-floor balcony. At night, you could hear the hustle and bustle of downtown, but the distant music was not enough to keep us up. The included breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options. What truly put it over the top was the staff. Front desk staff (Isis, Max, et al) were always friendly and helpful. The food/beverage service staff made you feel like you were flying first class. David and his crew went above and beyond. We will be back.

REAL REVIEW VS HYPE
We stayed at La Palapa in Feb. We have stayed here 3 times before. Here are the honest Pros and Cons,
Pros
- Great location for getting around the town
- Clean
- Very cute Caribbean vibe
Cons
- We booked our room more than 6 months in advance and requested a specific room. Needless to say they completely ignored our request.
- We tried calling the hotel, messaging them on WhatsApp, and email on their website several times the weeks before we arrived to request a specific room. NO RESPONSE AT ALL. Trying to reach them is a joke. Your messages are completely ignored. BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE.
- When we got there they gave us a random room that had no view. We asked for a different room and the receptionist, "Ruby" told us she might be able to move us to the room we wanted the next day. Ruby never contacted us and we saw her again once when we were leaving. SUPER BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
- The food in their restaurant was very mediocre. Walk to town instead for great food. Next door to the hotel is a fabulous Mexican fresh seafood restaurant.
- The entire time we were there the sargassum was really bad and you couldn't even get in the water. It was chocolate brown. There was zero clean up attempt. Understand this is nature, but the beach was awful.
- NOISE!! Late at night there's a place down the beach from La Palapa that blares loud music where the base vibrates in the rooms. The hotel gives you ear plugs even, but it is incredibly annoying.
They have some serious issues! This is NOT worth the price. There are better places to stay on Holbox with REAL customer service, bigger rooms, actual closets, and quiet at night. We believe their service has really declined.

All of the photos online are fake! Please see attached. The beach is so gross with a row of piles and seaweed. It smelled even worse than it looked.
La vue de la chambre et la proximité au centre. L’hôtel est agréable et on y est bien.
On est revenu à cet hôtel 8 ans après une première expérience. L’hôtel a un peu vieilli et les sargasses étaient présentes. Si ce n’est pas du fait de l’hôtel, on a vu d’autres hôtels avoir une démarche de nettoyage plus proactive.

Expérience unique et vue magnifique depuis notre chambre vue mer avec un hamac dans la chambre. Très reposant avec le bruit des vagues.

On n'a pas eu de chance et il y avait une tempête la nuit avec un vent fort; isolation fenêtre à améliorer car ça souffle très fort la nuit.
The property is clean and well maintained. The beach front is quite small but there are palapas for shade and chaises. The coast line is covered in seaweed/sargassum and the effort is made everyday to rake up the area for guests. The complimentary breakfast is quite good and a special shout-out to Geraldo, who was always pleasant and friendly.
The arrangements made through the hotel for our transfer from the Cancun airport to the hotel were a “NO show” and our many calls to the hotel were never answered leaving us with no option but to hire a cab for the 2.5 hours to the ferry where we also had to purchase our own tickets, then walk to the hotel. Dissatisfied with that but our return from the hotel arranged transfer went smoothly.

Na reserva o valor sempre foi apresentado em dolares e era nessa moeda que queriamos pagar. Mas o alojamento disse que so aceitava pagamentos em cartão, na moeda local. Se fosse em dolares teria que ser em dinheiro vivo.
Achamos a pratica desleal.
Disseram que se quisessemos reclamar para fazer diretamente com booking.
Não sentimos muito apoio da parte do staff.
Nestas situações é que se v|ê a qualidade serviço a cliente.
Depois de uma viagem longa, faria todo o sentido que tivesse existido outro tipo de procedimento.
Mas não se importaram e convidarem a cancelar a estadia...
Optamos por não ficar alojados alí. Mudamos para outro hotel.

L emplacement, la literie, le cadre, les repas du bar de la plage et la vue sur la mer.
Pas de bouteille d’eau fournis, très bruyant, d’ailleurs des bouchons d’oreilles sont fournis dans votre chambre… La plus mauvaise surprise a été de payer à l’arrivée plus de 100€ de plus que le prix indiqué en nous disant que entre le jour de la réservation et le jour d’arrivée le taux n’était plus le même, sans que ça nous est été signalé à aucun moment, nous comprenons mieux pourquoi c’est le seul hôtel qu’on ne peut pas payer à l’avance !!

La gentillesse et le professionnalisme de jerardo le serveur du matin au petit déjeuner qui était la seule personne agréable et sympathique dans l’établissement.
L’accueil a l’arrivée était médiocre , MR Brian le réceptionniste a été très désagréable et voulait absolument que je règle en liquide en pesos mexicain , je lui ai dit que sur leur mail il était bien indiqué que l’établissement acceptait la carte de crédit, ce qui ne lui as pas plus .
De plus j’ai été surfacturee de 200€ versus ma réservation initiale booking donc seconde déconvenue et pour finir notre transfert vers l’aéroport avait été planifié pour 14h et ce cher monsieur Brian sans m’en avoir informé l’as modifié pour 15h alors qu’il était bien inscrit dans leur affichage du lobby pour 14h , nous avons donc dû voir avec la réceptionniste Ruby présente ce jour
là pour qu’elle appelle un taxi en catastrophe et réorganise notre transfert à l’heure où nous aurions dû être pris en charge bref ….
Une expérience client déplorable sans parler de la qualité de service et du manque de considération envers les clients.
