Our stay at The Ocean Club was truly exceptional from start to finish. We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful beach, warm sunshine, and relaxing atmosphere throughout the entire trip.
The resort itself is very inviting, with well-kept grounds and a calm atmosphere that made it easy to relax. The food and drinks were excellent—each meal was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared, and the beverage options, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, were equally impressive.
What made the experience even better was the overall service and hospitality. The staff made us feel welcome and taken care of, which added to an already memorable vacation.
We had a fantastic trip and would absolutely return. Highly recommend for families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.
Very private and quiet location. Perfect if you are a group of people and prefer privacy. The staff was excellent. Very welcoming, affectionate, attentive, always willing to assist you and your family with anything you needed. The suites were beautifully kept, cleaned and maintained. Every single location and staff within this resort deserves a 10+ rating. The food was absolutely amazing. The beach was beautiful and very private but when we go back again there which we will DEFINITELY do so, I will pick maybe a different month because the water was a little rough. We went there the first week of April so I would recommend to go in a different time. I don’t think they give this place enough credit online. When I was doing my research, couldn’t find much about it. But trust me this was absolutely a beautiful place with absolutely beautiful people, and I’m referring to their staff.
I love this private beach luxury property! We traveled there for our anniversary…and are glad we did! The staff and their attention to detail was outstanding! Our room was always maintained when we left the service request on our door. The housekeeping staff provided turn down service every evening while we were at dinner. The wait staff is super attentive and always super nice. They even recognized we had a favorite drink and offered it to us even before we had a chance to ask! The wait staff that worked at Baia, the pools, Sun Club and lounge spaces were always attentive and provided just the right mix of attentiveness without hovering. We throughly enjoyed the fresh food options at Baia Lounge and the Sun Club. The breakfast buffet had something for everyone. The grill master that cooked on the beach and at the Sun Club is amazing. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly. When we were at the many pools/ jacuzzis we always had space and never felt crowded. The property was quiet and relaxing. During the afternoons on the days the Sun Club was open, there was a DJ that played beach vibe music that was just loud enough to create a vibe without disturbing guests. The room we stayed in was wonderful. The decor and finishes were perfect for a luxury beach stay. The property was beautifully maintained. You could see hotel management out and about with the other hotel staff monitoring and quietly directing. You could tell everyone enjoyed working at Ocean Club, cared about each guests needs/experience, and really wanted every guest to enjoy themselves.
We loved our stay at Ocean Club so much, we will return again in the near future! We are going to be regulars—LOL!

Our room was spacious with breathtaking ocean views, the pools and private beach were pristine, and the spa was a perfect escape. I will start by saying the views were absolutely beautiful to take in, the hotel is nice, and the beach just steps from the hotel was absolutely beautiful. The hotel itself is only around 4 years old according to our driver but the rooms are pretty beat up… broken cabinet doors, finishes looked worn and beat up, the shower head holder couldn’t handle the water past a certain pressure and would spin up to the ceiling if turned all the way on, the window had multiple cracks in it, and I woke up one day to a giant roach dying on the floor next to me so I was a little on edge after that, worried I’d see more. The salt water pool was visibly dirty as we could see some algae or mold growing on the surface so we decided not to get in. The restaurant service was slow, food tasted pretty mediocre (steak frites was good) most of the servers didn’t speak much English and weren’t very attentive, we often had to get someone’s attention to get what we needed while dining. We were told they offer a beachside private dining experience but after reaching out 6 times and only getting “we are checking on availability and will let you know” we gave up. We had a concierge number to text for our needs but they were pretty slow or unresponsive compared to other places I’ve stayed with this type of service. Their spa was not setup to accommodate a prenatal massage so we were unable to get massages as well, which really isn’t a problem, just sharing for anyone else who may be considering this service (we went for anniversary/babymoon). We typically travel luxury so our standards are pretty high and this location simply did not meet our expectations. It wasn’t horrible, as I was comfortable to sleep there and enjoy my stay, but I wouldn’t consider this a luxury resort and we personally won’t be back.
Lovely setting, however not a luxury resort. This hotel needs a lot of maintenance and they seem to be doing it piece by piece as guests complain. Broken lights, handrails, rust, and safety concerns seem to be the norm here. The rooms are plenty big, but don’t be fooled by the full kitchens. None of the appliances work, so don’t buy a ton of groceries in hopes of doing light cooking. They will go to waste. The staff works hard, however they are not trained for luxury resorts. There is really only 1 restaurant open throughout the week, and 2 pools, despite the advertising on Bonvoy. Our entire trip was spend asking for things to be remedied, just to maintain our safety. This does not include the broken items throughout. Management is kind, but really offered nothing to make amendments for the shortcomings. Beautiful beach, ok resort.
Wife and I had just returned from a trip with a group of friends and we wanted some time alone to just relax and be on our own schedule. The Ocean Club exceeded our expectations in terms of providing an amazing experience for rest and relaxation. Job well done to Melanie and the entire team.
The concierge staff was amazing!! They were so helpful- from finding a replacement for a prescription medication that got left at home and getting us a room when our flight home got canceled at the last minute. Can't say enough good things about the entire stay!
This luxury collection by Marriott is in a great location. A staff member pick us up at the airport. Checkin was easy and the staff is very nice and helpful especially Melisssa. We had a delicious welcome drink. Our room/ Suite was beautiful, with ocean view balcony and even washer and dryer! There is limited options for restaurant but food was good. The staff was very nice especially Nelfi. Be aware that they don’t all speak English. There are multiple pools and again the staff at the main pool is attentive (Yoemi and Roy) and they also did the kayak snorkeling with us, fun activity. The massage at the Spa was awazing.
The main issue we had was not having warm water for a couple of days. Enna the General manager was on site and responsive.

What an experience, from the front desk team to the concierge team fantastic service and always there. If you were at the pool or beach the service team was always there for you, either for towels, food, snorkeling or drinks. The restaurant was delicious you just have to be patient. The room was fantastic with amazing views and plenty of space. We can’t wait to go back.

Loved this resort. The pools are incredible with amazing ocean view. The beach is pristine and gorgeous. We loved the vibe , the atmosphere and the service was phenomenal. We will be back!
My wife and I visited this beautiful resort last week for my birthday. We had amazing airport car service provided by the hotel. The welcome was top notch and we actually received an upgrade to what one.of the most spacious rooms we have ever stayed in. The view was unbelievable. We were a bit disappointed that the Sun Club was not open during our stay and the weather was iffy. Wd also were a bit surprised that I guess it was housecleaning attempting to come in the room at 7p(weird time) one night. All in all it was a good stay. Thank you.
Our 4 night vacation was one the best ever. Very relaxing and the best service of any place I have been in my years of traveling.
Everyone was smiling and full of enthusiasm and energy. We plan on coming back not sure when.

This hotel has everything. Close to airport, easy and safe walk to town, short taxi ride to Cabarete, great beaches on property, pools, superb restaurant headed by award winning Chef Tita. But the best part is the people headed up by GM Enna and including Laura, Agustina, Valeria, & Mellanie. Every day they sent us a message asking what they could do to make our stay(s) better. Truthfully there was nothing more to do because our every need was anticipated and fulfilled. We stayed 7 days at end of Jan, came back again at end of Feb, and are already looking forward to going back.

I’m honestly shocked this place is still allowed to be part of the Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts program. If you value your money or your safety, do not make the mistake of staying at The Ocean Club, Costa Norte.

While I was at a spa appointment—a time the hotel knew my room was empty—someone went through my backpack and took my credit and debit cards. They were physically used for fraudulent charges while I was getting a massage. The thieves actually put the cards back in my wallet afterward, but they were in the wrong order, so it was obvious someone had been rummaging through my personal stuff.
The management’s response? A total joke. They "investigated" themselves and found no wrongdoing , and now they are harassing me for a $600 balance they forgot to charge because of their own "human error". They have zero financial integrity and clearly don't care about guest security.
The Property is a Dump
Calling this a "Luxury Collection" resort is a lie. The place is falling apart:
Building Decay: The exterior of the resort is literally crumbling, with slats falling off the buildings.
Safety Hazard: There was a terrifying smell of natural gas in my room when using the in-room dryer.
Broken Gym: Don't bother with the fitness center; the equipment is broken, unusable, and covered in cobwebs.
Bottom Line
The staff cannot be trusted, the rooms are questionable, and the management is dismissive. I've already reported this nightmare to Marriott Corporate and Amex Travel. Save yourself the headache and the fraud alerts—stay somewhere else.
