The hotel was really charming and the cottage accommodation we booked beautifully decorated and clean. There was bike storage available and it wasn't a problem to leave our cars parked the following day while we rode the Wilderness trail.
Unfortunately one of the cottages was located some distance from the hotel, however we had a car and it was very quaint. The second cottage had too many beds placed in a very small room, which were antique frames that squeaked at every turn. I did mention this to staff the following morning so hopefully it is rectified as 2 hours sleep was not great. Do not arrive early as the duty manager was very strict with the 2pm check in.
Comfortable heritage cottage, comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Main bedroom had a bath in it. I think the money could be better spent elsewhere in the cottage.
Cleanliness not up to scratch for the price paid. Some furnishings in lounge tatty and torn. My bedroom needed a good clean with dead bugs and cobwebs in the corners and someone's pill under the bedside table. Washing machine spindle needed a clean, as did the tub next to it which had a filthy old broom and dirty rag sitting in it. Will be writing to management with full info and photos so they can address the problem. I can appreciate staffing can be a problem in some areas but it you can't clean it, don't let it out. Kitchen utensils looked like they came from the local op shop.
The staff were amazing. It a proper old bed and breakfast pub. We loved it.
Not enough wardrobe space but that was minor. we were only stopping one night
Utile pour une étape . Bonne literie
Le déco, dans le thème soit, est quand même un peu difficile en fin de compte . Néanmoins on était prévenu .
Lovely old refurbished building with lots of charm.

This is a hotel with history and the rooms take one back in time, with the added advantage of a modern bathroom. A restaurant on site is convenient, and it’s just a few minutes walk to see glow worms after dark.
Location, historic building
Lovely well equipped and decorated cottage.
Too far from main hotel 650m. Didn’t realise that. Not great if biking in the rain. Directions to get there by staff we met in the evening vague and only verbal. No map. Tv poor.
Place was dirty and had mould. very dear
It was elegant, tastefully decorated. The beds were comfy and there was a claw foot bath in the master bedroom, in addition to the ensuite!
We couldn't figure out the tv.
Full of character, comfortable, and clean.
We liked being in the Kumara village.
Nice to have the hotel restaurant and bar available.
Everything was great.
Unique charm, quiet location, the history, well curated, clean
A few maintenance issues in terms of loose fixtures, or tap in hand basin
die Ausstattung war seht originell, wir haben in der Dependance sprich ehemals Bank of New Zealand geschlafen.
die Räume rochen miefig, durch die Lage direkt an der Durchgangsstrasse zum Arthurs Pass war es teilweise sehr laut
