Dinner was lovely, great ambience. Staying in the rural area - on a farm was a treat. Was unique experience and golfing in this setting was fantastic (playing through cow paddocks, over hedges, even a tree on a putting green - definitely unique).
We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We would not like to see anything changed.
Convivial atmosphere. Dinner was very good
Breakfast could be better
Breakfast was great Dinner was excellent the host was fabulous Basil Fawlty to a T
The weather
The uniqueness of the accommodation and location. And the staff were all so friendly and helpful.
Tolle historische Gebäude, sauber, tolle Umgebung, freundliches Personal
Den Preis von $25 empfanden wir für das angebotene Frühstück zu teuer.
A different place to stay with an interesting history. Accommodation is in repurposed farm buildings and cottages. Ours was part of the stables. The bathroom was huge with a stand alone bath and an excellent shower. Living area was a bit cramped but clean and the bed was comfy. It was hot the night we stayed, the air conditioning was effective but we would have liked a window that could be opened rather than have the aircon on all night.
The dinner in the homestead was an absolute highlight. We met other guests and were entertained, and educated, by the host sharing stories about Ratho’s history during the meal. Host and staff couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming and were a wealth of information about the property. I even caught a glimpse of the resident platypus.
Hardly any space between bed and wall in one side. Non opening windows.
Ratho Farm was lovely and rustic and we had a great time. The room was good except for a very noisy fridge which kept us awake but I did tell them before we left. The food and the atmosphere were very good and the staff lovely.
The old world feel & the $65 dinner which included entrainment from a local gentleman
For the dinner corkage for BYO wine was $19 & golf course was in a very average condition
Beautiful, loved the dinner and the stories about the first settlers. And had time to play a round of golf😀
Charming place with rustic buildings and historic farmhouse surrounded by oldest golf course after St Andrew’s in Scotland. A surprise for us as we thought it was a farm.
The rough terrain from cabin to the farmhouse for meals was difficult for those with mobility issues.
It was very relaxing picturesque
The property nothing
I chose Ratho Farm as the perfect venue to celebrate a milestone birthday and the bicentenary of an ancestor's arrival as a convict in Van Diemen's Land. With family and friends accommodated in various convict-built cottages and farm buildings, we were able to enjoy all the modern amenities in beautifully preserved buildings which are now 200 years old.
Dinner at the homestead on the Saturday night provided a great opportunity for us to gather as a group, and meet some fellow travellers. We enjoyd some old-fashioned farm meals complemented by cheese platters and home-made desserts. Over dinner we learnt a little about the original Bothwell settlers and were invited to share some of our own family history.
We opted for an informal barbecue meal on the Sunday evening in the farmyard surrounds with various guests contributing meat, salads, etc. Our hosts were most helpful in setting up the barbecue, chairs and tables while we swapped stories on the day's various sightseeing activities.
Many thanks to our hosts Ros & Richard who went out of their way to accommodate our every need along with Marco, Luca and all staff members who contributed to a wonderful stay at Ratho.
After a bit of digging online, I came across this 'gem' of a place/stay, that also happens to be the first golf course to be constructed in Australia (amazing).
My self contained unit was spacious, super comfy bedding, easy parking, and quite a challenging course (bring a few extra balls)
I highly recommend the 'family dinner' hosted by Richard and Roz (caretakers of the farm).
Overall, a great experience.
Thank you,
Brian M.
