Clean spacious comfort room, fantastic view over bay. We equipped with everything we needed.
The location
The bed was old & very uncomfortable
The shower fittings were old, the inside had flaked off paint
No drapes on the windows, very exposed
The staff at Akaroa Village listened to our concerns and made the necessary changes.
The original room was not as described on the website. It smelt musty and the bathroom facilities were very average.
We stayed in 65 and the shower is very dangerous getting in and out my wife slipped and full and has spent 5 days in hospital there should be a none slip floor in there and exturnel step to footpath needs signage as there is a big step done that you don't notice till its too late hurt both my knees
We have used the Bruce Apartments (managed by Akaroa Village Inn) before and they are consistently well-managed, clean, comfortable, in a great location and with all the services you'd expect. Very well set up for families or groups of friends with lots of room.
Absolutely everything!

The location is excellent, right on the water and the wharf. Restaurants are close with one right on the ground floor. Check in and out went fine with pleasant staff.
The room needs some touch up and the access stairway area needs some cleanup otherwise it was a good stay.
Our apartment was gorgeous! We were so happy to be upgraded, it was a great surprise! There was plenty of space, nice cooking facilities, the location was fabulous, right near the beach. Lots of restaurants, shops, the jetty nearby.
The staff were very friendly.
It was clean inside
We also had room 72 which was very well equipped
Going up to our room (no 1) the area around the stairs and behind the restaurant was filthy and disgusting.
The bed was terrible.
The shower needs maintenance.
This was a great place to stay - just across the road from the waterfront. The apartment I occupied had 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living room, and an outside patio. I could have lived here for quite awhile! The road in front had some traffic during the day but was very quiet at night.
The restaurant, Aihe, is just steps away and had excellent food. The small grocery store is a 20-minute walk from the Inn. There are so many activities to do in Akaroa; my 3 nights were not long enough!
I did 2 tours; one with “Coast Up Close” - a half day boat tour with a great captain/ guide who helped us spot lots of wildlife. The second tour was Wildside “ Banks Peninsula Half-Dat Guided Tour” that ended at the Pohatu Penguin Reserve” where I was able to see the Little Blue Penguin up close inside one of the penguin nest boxes.
Everything was good.
