Pros:

We recently stayed at The Burgess and, upon arrival, the reception staff were lovely and welcoming. They clearly explained the parking and apartment directions, which made check-in straightforward.

Cons:

The apartment does not have proper air conditioning. Instead, there was a portable unit with a vent that was ill fitted to the window frame, meaning it could not be used effectively. We had also paid for an apartment with a balcony, but the balcony was inaccessible.

When making our booking, we specifically requested a cot for our baby, which was approved. Unfortunately, when we arrived there was no cot provided. When we went to reception for assistance, it was already closed at 1:45 pm, even though the welcome booklet and their Booking.com information clearly state that reception is open on weekdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

We then had to contact reception through Booking.com and were informed that they could not provide the approved cot because the only one they had was already being used by another booking. This was extremely inconvenient as we were travelling with a 10-month-old baby. The only solution offered was to bring up a single mattress the following day.

We were more than happy to pay the $30 fee for the cot, but having only one cot available in a property with multiple apartments is unacceptable, especially when the request had already been approved prior to arrival. Us stay was no uncomfortable but we were obliged to monivour around their incompetence.

Disappointing.
Pros:

It was a nice size 3 bedroom unit with a view of the ocean. Clean. As there is no airconditioning we had to open all the windows for fresh air but they were very hard to open and close due to the corrosion caused by the salt air. Beds are on the firm side too.

Cons:

We paid for a 3 bedroom unit with 1 Double room and 2 x Single Beds rooms for 5 men. Spoke with the Manager when they called for my credit card payment, that there are 5 men coming so they knew in advance our needs. After taking our money we find out on arrival they have put us into a totally different unit as advertised, purchased and confirmed. We now have 3 x double bed unit so 2 men had to sleep on floors and small lounge. Called Managers 4 times for no answer and emailed thru the site. We received, what appears to be a pre-prepared email the following morning, saying they didn't have to give us the room we purchased thru Booking.com because we didn't go direct thru Burgess. Having been using Booking.com overseas and throughout Australia for 15+ years, I have always received the unit as advertised, until now.

Very enjoyable, grandchildren especially loved the pool area.
Pros:

Well-proportioned main bedroom with ensuite, 2nd & 3rd bedrooms also good sized. Large kitchen, lounge & dining area & bathroom which contained excellent laundry facilities. Dual aspect views and walking distance to beach, parks, hotel & other eateries. Nice swimming pool & spa area.

Cons:

Nothing really, just a few minor maintenance items in the apartment e.g. sliding door onto deck, shower cleaning etc.

The apartment suited ours needs. Nice sitting on the balcony. 3 of out of our 5 nights we sat there watching the storms. Stunning display of lightning.

Pros:

The views, the pool and spa - loved that the room had a washer and dryer especially with young kids! Stephen was great over the phone, undercover parking.

Cons:

It didn’t have aircon (didn’t realise hotels these days didn’t have aircon but know now to check that on booking), there was a dirty toothbrush in the main bathroom, the hot water tap didn’t work in the main bathroom for the bath and there were dead bugs in the main bedroom bed which had us worried if the sheets had been washed and the fans aren’t very strong considering how hot it is in QLD.
