Excellent city centre hotel
Pros:

Staff were very accommodating allow access to the room early

Cons:

Rain storm over night sounded like the down pipe was over flowing or blocked

We loved staying here- will stay again when we get the chance
Pros:

Boutique hotel with great character, no details spared and friendly staff. We loved the decor, guest lounge he is a great touch and super comfy bed, well appointed room, bathroom etc.

Pros:

A charming boutique hotel with thoughtful details throughout. The space felt cozy and well-designed, and the staff (owner I believe) was warm and welcoming. Would definitely stay again.

City Center and free parking
Pros:

Directly in City Center and including free parking Space. Very friendly owner (provided Lots of suggestions what to do and where to eat in New Plymouth).

Cons:

Since we Travel with 2 large suitcases the Room we have booked was a bit too small.

Home away from home
Pros:

There is nothing bad myself or my partner can say about the state hotel, the host AJ is nothing short of polite, friendly and makes checking in a seamless process, I feel so at home whenever I stay here, the location is perfect, right in the city, close to the beach and attractions but also surprisingly quiet for the location, I have stayed here before and the rooms are immaculately clean, tidy and comfortable!

I will always choose to stay at the state hotel when I travel to New Plymouth as I like to see it as my home away from home.

I travel often, and this place genuinely surprised me—in the best way. From the effortless check-in to the striking antler chandelier and thoughtful décor, combined with a great location and a well-appointed room, everything was spot on.

Very comfortable and presents like a private club
Pros:

This hotel is well appointed and the room amenities were top notch. We found the staff friendly and professional from first contact. We were very pleased to stay here and it was comfortable. The free parking was also appreciated. The residents' lounge was a nice and comfy addition.

Cons:

The only criticism we have was the small bathroom had a glass door. Although opaque it did not conceal user and was off putting. this is the only critique we have. The rest of the property was excellent.
