Accommodation in a remote area that suited a family reunion

Great accommodation, quiet, clean and offers all the equipment that is necessary. Fully equipped kitchen. Sports fields available, ideal for families, hikers, cyclists and nature lovers. The only disadvantage: the location in the nature means that the nearest supermarket is only a short distance away. The accommodation is worth it.

Mount Richmond is in a beautiful setting with the modern, warm and comfortable units well spaced out on the 10 acre estate. This makes for a memorable stay that is very different from the average roadside motel.

Highly recommended. My husband and I booked initially for four nights and loved it so much we stayed a week. The self contained stand alone units are spacious and spotlessly clean. Light filled with all day sun and peaceful. All you hear are the birds. The cafe is a plus and we enjoyed a home cooked lamb roast on Sunday. 20 minutes to Havelock and 40 minutes to Nelson. Beautiful walks through native NZ bush close by. The owners welcoming and helpful. Best holiday.

This is a great place to get some rest while traveling between Nelson, Picton and French Pass. Rooms are big and clean, service is great, food is delish. What not to like?

Mt Richmond Estate was everything we expected and more.

We were welcomed by our friendly hosts and never treated as an inconvenience.
The photo gallery on the website was exactly what our room looked like so we knew what to expect and how good it was going to be.
Unlimited WiFi is the standard throughout international accomodation but sadly lacks in most motels and hotels in New Zealand. This is the first place I've encountered that provides that service and it was gratefully appreciated by our kids, and for the parents peace of mind.

Well done Mt Richmond Estate, you surpassed our expectation of a motel and have set the bar for others to follow.

We found this place in the really last minute during our Christmas holiday ( we have missed one night accommodation booking when we were planning our trip and only found out on the day...lol ) the room is very cozy, nice and clean, our daughter loves play with their two lovely dogs. Will go back to stay longer next time

Very nice place, authentic kiwi owner, relaxed and friendly. Amazing super king bed!! Didn't wake up at all ! Plus amazing experience to watch the starts from the hot tub, there is towels available at the deck, it is dark, you will find flashlights at the accomodation, by the darkness was definitely worth it !!!
Family of 4 really enjoyed!

Lovely location away from the crowds nestled amongst the forest and mountains. Seperate newly renovated units comfortable and well appointed. Would be a good place for kids with lots of open lawn space. The hosts were very friendly and informative. Glow worms right next door on forest track. Very relaxing place to stay.

Great place to relax and listen to the wild life.

This was our second visit to Mount Richmond Estate. As previously, it was just a one night stay. However, we would like to be able to stay longer next time we are in the area. It's a very peaceful spot to relax in and the accommodation is very clean and comfortable. The owners/staff are very pleasant and their two dogs are lovely - placid and friendly, but well trained not to go into the units. Haven't tried out the cafe yet - maybe next time.

good value for money, conveniently located on the way grom picton to golden bay. Large, brand new and very clean rooms. nice personnel. could improve wifi in the room (not working as well as at reception/cafe') and breakfast. all in all we would be happy to come back.

We stayed in February, 2016. The owners were really helpful, the motel was renovated and it was in excellent condition. The motel units have nice porches to sit out on. We did not utilize the on site restaurant but it looked really good. We did use the guest laundry which was very good.

Wifi was pretty much non existent, kept on dropping ofline

Restaurant on site was a real bonus. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee in between were all available on site.
