The view of the ocean
No elevator. Stairs to 2nd floor were treacherous. Facility is very old. No staff available. No luggage ramp until after you climb a few flights of stairs outside. No room phone. Would not recommend unless you like carrying luggage up and down stairs. Location is not on the beach, it's across a very busy road. It's pretty far from the airport.

Hard to get my case up the stairs, okay if you don’t have a big suitcase.
We chose this place for the location/price. Nothing flashy but the location was perfect. Across from the beach. Pretty much next door to the coogee bay hotel.
No lifts and bit of a building site outside which you could tell had been there a long time with nothing happening

The location is great, almost at the beach. The area is nice, loved to stay at Coogee beach, The room is spacious, has good shower, comfortable bed and good linen. It is possible to make tea in the room, while in the shared kitchen there is everything kitchen needs (fridge, toaster, etc). The room is simple, but well kept. The only thing I don't trust in the hotels - the carpet - my imagination is drawing every possible stain, smell, hair etc. It was absolutely ok, seems clean, but still :) Also we almost didn't have natural light as the window was to the wall, but as we stayed at the hotel just during the night time, it wasn't an issue. The communication with hotel staff was easy, super friendly and welcoming.

The hotel is conveniently located very close to the beach, Coogee restaurants, a couple convenience stores and a supermarket. I like the feel of the hotel - more personal than a big sterile city chain hotel. The communal breakfast area is nice and there was a small kitchen area (microwave/kettle/sink) in the room.
Some might feel that the vibe and general fit-out of the place is not ultra-modern, but it was fine for me.

Steep narrow stairs , frosted windows made it dark and my bathroom window wouldn't totally close

Kitchen area was available but use didn’t seem to be encouraged. Felt a bit like a hostel for mature travellers.Front door didn’t always shut properly so was a bit concerning.
The location that’s about it
Sorry but this hotel is awful for the price, the name says it all. It looks awful. The balcony is made of wood and you can only just get outside, feels unsafe like it’s going to fall down. Aircon leaked water all night and dripped on my head. The room is too hot even with air con. I just wanted to leave
We only stayed about 5 minutes having dragged our suitcases up about 20 concrete steps. There was scaffolding all around it. The smell in the hall was just awful, like a mix of urine and cleaning fluid. When we got our room I honestly couldn't believe the smell. The head board behind the pillows was badly stained, there was a tiny window and I was honestly struggling to breath with the smell of mould. Got on to my phone and lucky we were able to book a much better place near by. This property should not be given 4 stars. In fact it should probably be closed down. Vile.
Everything. Place is disgusting. Not sure why it is given such a good rating. I don't mind things being basic but cleanliness is essential.
