Please note that all accommodations, at both properties are located on the 1st floor with access via a staircase only.

The Formby Hotel is home of the popular Central Bar and Restaurant – the bar is open with live music or DJs Friday & Saturday nights until 11pm and some rooms will be affected by noise from this on these evenings.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.

Consideration needs to be given ferry arrival times.
Cons:

The Ferry arrived late and we were told there was only time for one drink. We arrived at 9.20 and they all seemed in a rush to close up. We were originally told it was 10pm closing time. There were five different groups involved in the lateness of the ferry.

Great place for anyone to stay that’s travelling on the spirit of Tasmania.
Pros:

Lovely staff. Great meals. Location was excellent. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Good location and staff.

Cons:

No lift , only stairs. Rooms lacked soundproofing and decent privacy. The furst of our 3 night stay, someone in an adjoining room tried to get into our room, perhaps thinking it was a bathroom?

The common room down the corridor was nousy, door always open and talking echoed through the corridor.

Also, we heard loud talking from an outside area at times.

Carparking was inadeqiate wuth pot luck as to whether yiu coukd get a park out the back or down the street- inconvenient if had suitcases. Room needs a microwave and a sink in bathroom.

Cons:

The bunk beds in the dorm have a ladder about the width of your hand, making getting in and out an interesting experience.
Then just as I went to get dinner there was a fire in the hotel causing everyone to stand around the carpark for 30m.
Then the power didn’t come back on for a couple of hours, which meant a shower in the dark.
Finally got up in the morning to find my motorcycle had been vandalised in the pub carpark.

Probably won’t come back.

Lovely old hotel but really enjoyed it. Close to where you board the Spirit of Tasmania and restaurant/bistro had amazing food and choice
