Location, staff and food all excellent. We’re back in a month.
Location to beach and shops
Two fire alarm evacuations on first night. Absolutely no emergency evacuation notices within the room!
Little hanger space and no drawers for clothes
It was a great spot on Manly Beach, the rooms were clean and well appointed.
Our room didn’t have AC with no external windows and was very hot. An apology or refund at checkout wasn’t forthcoming which was disappointing.
Great location. Rooms are tiny. My room had no window. Shower was good. No proper drawers to keep your stuff. My breakfast was not nice. I had Eggs Benedict. It was oily and bacon was like leather. I had to wait for them to top up the coffee and mugs. The poor server was trying his best but you could see he was stressed. I don’t think this place is worth the price.
Perfect location
Aircon not working when we were there and they also had a false fire alarm when we were still in the room having a shower.
bed was ok, breakfast granola was great and prawn mango salad was great
No airconditioning, curtains left open on 35 deg day on west facing winsdow, clumsy fan
The fire alarm went off twice during the night.
In the morning at breakfast the urn for tea making was cold , had to wait considerable time to get hot water for cup of tea
If there was the option of 3.5 stars, I'd give it that. It wasn't perfect, but it was ok, and given the price paid, overall I'm happy..ish (more on the "ISH" later) with my stay.
The rooms are bit on the small side, but the bed was comfortable, and the shower room had shampoo, conditioner and body wash, along with soap and lotion at the sink. The TV in the room was a decent size, however as a smart TV, it wasn't, and couldn't, be connected to the hotel WiFi. I used my phone as a hotspot, which sort of rectified the solution, only to find that the apps on the TV were somewhat scrambled, you select Prime...you get YouTube, and inconvenience, not a major problem. I had a small window, with a view of the upstairs courtyard.
The room was cleaned every day, to a decent standard, and towels were replaced every day. I never stayed over the weekend, I do imagine that rooms would be very noisy during this time, the ground floor has 4 bars, and there's also a rooftop bar.
Breakfast...I can't fault any of the food I had, every dish was cooked well, presented beautifully, and we're fresh and tasty. Hotel guests have a menu, from which you take your pick, and is served plated to you at your table.
Staff at the bars and reception were very friendly and helpful.
My biggest issue during my stay, was on my second last morning, I was wakened by a fire alarm at 7am, and had to evacuate. Thankfully it was a false alarm, however it took another guest to inform us we could go back to our room. Later that night, at 1am, I was again woken with a fire alarm, and had to evacuate. Fire brigade came, another false alarm, a problem with the electrics we were told, and again returned to my room. Dozed back off, 2.30am, you guessed it, fire alarm, evacuate, fire brigade come for the same electrical problem causing the false alarm. Not ideal when you have a 24 hour flight then next day. During my 4 night stay, I had 2 full nights of sleep.
I did inquire if due to the disruption, I would be able to check out a little later than the 10am check out time, however as the hotel was fully booked this was not possible.
Overall, without the fire alarm disruption, I would recommend the hotel, keeping your expectations that it is a 3 star hotel, and great value for money.
Loved the location and the staff were soo friendly and accommodating!
restocking of essentials like coffee capsuls
Limited choice
The non stop noise from building works and loud music disturbing sleep, air conditioning not working during high temperatures, with room windows not able to be opened. Shower flooding bathroom floor after every use causing a slip hazard.
The location of the hotel was convenient to all of Manly. There is plenty of restaurants near by and even down stairs to appease anyone's palate. The breakfast meals were cooked and prepared nicely.
The staff were less than helpful and were not friendly, joyous or happy to help. We did experience two friendly staff, however most of the staff acted like they didn't want to be there, they were less than helpful or accommodating. The cleanliness was poor, the coffee cups had stains and really need a really wash, the water in the urn was lukewarm and we had ask for hot water from the coffee machine and had to explain twice that the water wasn't hot enough to make tea. The rooms were noisy and the curtain didn't cover all of the windows, allowing the sun to stream through intently. Your staff need to improve on their customer service, friendliness and the overall cleanliness of the pub, crockery and cutlery. Staff need to learn to smile and engage with their customer.
Location is perfect. Bathroom was nice, especially the shower - loved it.
No windows in our room.
Additionally even though at check in we were told about the music (and I was previously aware about the nature of the venue) would be stopped at 2am, but I believe both nights it went past 2am. It would’ve been better to not have this time mentioned if it’s not going to be adhered too.
Great location
Room was a bit small for 2 large cases
Ridiculously hot
The music felt like it was in our bedroom.
We did complain & wasn’t interested.
The breakfast you are only allowed to choose one thing & had to pay for anything else.
Rooms are small & we had to change rooms cos they was no windows in the one.
There was a very rustic bottom opener which was awful.
Location
No kettle, noisey at night but that was expected. Morning breakfast for guests was just in with the rest of the public so no seating available due to an event in manly.
Great location right on the Corso. No dedicated parking but staff were helpful in working out how to deal with drop off etc and council parking. Our room looked right out over the beach, but was still reasonably quiet. The breakfast was adequate - just, so we paid for some add-on cooked breakfast
Manly is FEROCIOUSLY expensive. We chose Styene as it was less ferocious than some others. Big City CBD prices++. I guess that's what comes with a popular holiday locale. The bottom story of the hotel is "just a pub" but the rooms level nice enough and our room good.
