Poor air conditioning in rooms and non existent in public areas. Rooms are tired - cracks on wall rust in shower bad lighting

Was upgraded to penthouse which was a bonus.

Front desk really helped out to find local guide to take me out for the day.

Over all it was a good stay. Need improvement the breakfast menu, especially on the taste.

After a night flight we had 7 hours waiting in Manokwari and decided to go to Aston, because its located very close to the airport. Outside the hotel looks great, but rooms are pretty worn out and definitely not 4 stars.
+ very friendly, helpful and efficient receptionist
+ clean sheets and towels, coffeemaker, fridge
+ breakfast: nor many western dishes, but plenty fruits, cakes, omelette
- no sign for do not disturb, so just after we fell asleep, housekeeping belled us awake
Alltogether, if you have to stay in Manokwari Aston is a good option.

The hotel could be so much more, but is lacking in various areas. There is an odor in the hallways, curtains in the room are quite dusty, AC functions passably at best, and there are no international TV channels.

Everything needs to be paid up front, and even if you sign for a meal, they come up to your room and ask you to pay then, and pay in cash. Food was fair at best.

For the price, it seems it should offer more.

We stayed here for a day and 1/2 and found the hotel to be reasonably priced, having all the facilities we needed and very friendly staff. We were able to check in to our room incredibly early and a staff member even found two extra pillows for us ! Dining room staff were also friendly and the pool, although not too deep, has a beautiful view.

This hotel is a big sprawling conference centre style hotel, set up on a hill with nice views of the bay. Its is dated, and in need of modernisation. Its about 20% cheaper than the Swiss Bel in town and these are the two best options in Manokwari, but both are vastly overpriced at £40-£60 per night.
The food in the restaurant was awful. Twice we attempted to eat,; lunch then dinner. Lunch - Nasi Goreng was served cold. To avoid this happening at dinner we specifically requested the food be served hot, but sadly it wasn't. I was served a cold soggy club sandwich, the ingredients of which were all recycled, presumably form the buffet breakfast ?
The rooms are tired. Expect mould in the bathroom, and cracked tiles.
Nature lovers be aware that the hotel keeps rare parrots in cages in the garden...
The staff however are lovely and the one highlight of staying here.

I stay here to during business trip, as long as stay here enjoy the new experience. the weather is very good, as well as the scenery is very beautiful. overall i enjoy though there are some that need to be added and improved, such as the type of food that needs to be reproduced and the slow internet connection
