Grand Hotel Overnight Stay
Pros:

The location 5 min from the beach and sea baths were prime. Being on top of the restaurant and pub is also a great point if you want to be able to drink one too many...

Cons:

There was no possibility to open the window, air-conditioning at 17 degrees when we checked in, room service came and knocked 30 min before checkout - it was confusing,.

Location was perfect for Court next door, the bar/restaurant food was great.
Pros:

Location, friendly staff, particularly the bar staff, the size of the room, the bed was comfortable (notwithstanding that it was 2 beds pushed together), plenty of shampoo/conditioner/body wash (none of those silly little tubes/bottles), the bar/restaurant food was great.

Cons:

No on-site parking, the stairs were difficult for an old man, a dead cockroach in the shower, no mini bar or biscuits and diet sugar for coffee, a lack of available power points.

Good value accom but admin lacking
Cons:

Frustratingly they said they would email us tax invoices (so we could recover expenses from client) but didn’t do so. We are currently chasing them by phone to get them sent to us.

Perfect stay for a short Newcastle visit
Pros:

The Grand is a traditional Australian pub. Facilities are old but meet the requirements of a comfortable , secure stay.

Cons:

Pros:

As the accommodation is above a pub, the staff appeared to have put us into a quiet room. The pub closed at 9pm (Friday night) in any case. Room was very quiet, no disturbance at all.

On check in, bar staff member was really helpful with hotel facilities (pub bar & cocktail bar). Also provided good directions to nearby cafes open from 6am for breakfast.

Cons:

The booking option had a king bed or twin singles. I requested the twin option but the room was made up as a single king.

Was OK for a one night stay.
Pros:

The location close to the beach was good. The staff were very nice. Nice big balcony.

Cons:

No off-street parking. No insect screens on doors. No batteries in TV remote control.
