Tiki Hotel Apartments Surfers Paradise

Our stay at Tiki Hotel Apartments Surfers Paradise was extremely disappointing. The property is very old, smelly, and dirty, and clearly not well maintained.
The car park is tiny and you have to pay to use it, which felt ridiculous given the condition of the place. Access to the building is through an outdated keypad system that didn’t feel secure at all.
The worst part was having someone try to open our door at 1am thankfully we had the inside lock on. It honestly made us feel unsafe and we seriously considered leaving in the middle of the night.
There were also multiple maintenance issues. The bath tap had a massive leak, the internet was terrible, and the TV and remote in the lounge didn’t work.
We couldn’t wait to leave. I would absolutely not recommend staying here and wish we had read the reviews before booking.

We were expecting a terrace ( as stated in inclusion)
There are no apartments with Terrace or balcony here so This site needs to address this.

Old

The property was fully paid at time of booking. I arrived to check in after a long day of travel at 1:30am and was advised to send a PHOTO of my credit card details for a bond. I advised I'm happy to pay bond in person in the morning, as they couldn't confirm who I was sending my credit card details to , how it was being stored and how it was being used. I was then advised the card details would be emailed to internal staff and I requested to be cc'd into the email which I was denied. This is not common practice and I doubt it is even legal! Absolutely Painful experience to say the least !. I was required to present at reception first thing the next day to verify my Id, so easily could have paid the bond in person. But given it was 1:30am I had no choice , absolutely disgraceful.
The facilities were not great , very dated , musty and run down.

On the level to the room it needed a good clean on the tiles and the pool was run down tiles falling off, dirt marks around pool water level and gardens were horrible. Tiles on ground of pool area were dirty and loose (pretty much a law suit waiting to happen) felt like I could catch something if I didn’t wear my thongs.
100% didn’t look like the pictures on booking.com.

I paid for 4 people. It was meant to be a double bed and a sofa bed. We arrived late at 10pm with 2 kids only to find that there were no sofa beds made up. In fact, there was only one single sofa bed in the room. I had to scramble to find sheets and blankets and was short on both so I had to strip the main bed to find enough sheets for everyone. And the blanket had a white crusty stain on it 🤮 Not something I was planning on doing after a 6hr drive with 2 little kids!
It’s very dated. Which we wouldn’t have minded except the room was dirty. Crumbs all over the couch, walking round barefoot and my feet went black.
If you are a light sleeper do NOT book here. The walls are paper thin and it sounds like the road is right next to your window. We heard every car rev, every person hollering, and every door open and close.
There were no hand towels and the iron was dirty and left a black mark on my dress.
They gave us one toilet roll for a family of 4 for 2 nights. The rubbish bag was so thin it split. They give you cheapest and barest of essentials.
The tv remotes don’t work for either tv.
The furniture is old and creaky and mismatched. The bathroom is surprisingly new compared to the rest of the room with good sized vanity but very poor lighting and only one power point. The shower head was awful with terrible water pressure. You have to stand up against the wall to get wet. And the tiles were mouldy. The pool area looked like it used to be great once upon a time. Now it’s old and tired with cones over broken tiles. No pool towels in the room either.
All in all, stay somewhere else. For over $550 I expected better.
