North Star Inn

Quirky accommodation on top of a truck. Turned out to be very comfortable and unique. Certainly a headturner.

I was travelling the Mawson Trail by bike. The room was clean, there is a shared kitchen area for the four rooms in the hotel. The balcony view of Mount Remarkable and the main street was fantastic. Food at both pubs in town was great. There is a brewery around the corner. I would stay here again.

Love the quirky green truck

Truck was a glorious surprise - much bigger than it appeared from outside. Far enough away from pub to feel private. Staff were friendly and food at the inn was glorious with lovely Australian flavours. Restful and pleasant getaway, even though the township was very busy that weekend.

Got put into a dirty room that wasn't cleaned.
Pointed it out and got moved into a cleaned room.
Heater didn't work properly.
Black mould in the bathroom above the shower.
Expected more for $150 a night.
I wouldn't go back or recommend this place.

Staying in the old trucks is a unique experience. Very easy being just behind the hotel. The bedding needs to be updated and some maintenance - bathroom heating not working

Still a nice place to spend a weekend

We stayed in the red truck and was very comfortable from bed to nice hot shower.The hotel is beautiful in a old,unquiet way with lovely fire,set among beautiful scenery.Amazing meal at great price

The North Star Inn is a lovely place to stay. This was our second stay in this same room. Melrose is conveniently positioned to break up the drive from Port Lincoln to Adelaide. The room with ensuite bathroom is spacious, clean and well appointed. The location in Melrose is ideal with easy access to the North Star Inn (obviously) and other venues in the area. We recommend this accommodation.

Charming accommodation but icy service

Liked the cleanliness, the bathroom and the quite. Could get a couple of new chairs on the verandah. Enjoyed the view

Room created inside an old truck. Yes, you read well, a truck standing on stumps and secured. Bathroom and toilet are separate, just across the room. Reduced space inside, but sufficient for two people.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and its ensuite. It also had a shared kitchen facility that was very handy. Beautiful hiking trails. We were very happy that we decided to stay the night at Melrose, and we recommend the North Star Hotel.
