Great place to stay if you don’t mind being nickel and dimed by the owners of this establishment. I cannot fault the front desk staff they were as nice as any front desk staff. But the owners are absolutely horrendous. Their attempts to overcharge for everything are ridiculous. Stay at your own risk.
Cleaning/Housekeeping staff didn't replace towels, soap, washcloths, coffee. Called twice to front desk with no answer. Had to walk down and wait for the attendant to show up and she handed me the requested items so the guest could walk it back to the room.
Booked a room with 2 beds last-minute (11:50pm) through Hotels.com for a late arrival while driving as the only adult/parent with my four young kids (ages 7–12) from Nashville. Arrived exhausted at 2am. Front desk refused us the room, citing occupancy limits. Solo parent with small children — splitting rooms wasn’t safe or realistic. We had no choice but to sleep in their parking lot which the front desk manager knew and let happen.
I understand policies exist and even understand why we were turned away. What I don’t understand is the complete lack of flexibility, compassion, or basic problem-solving for a family in a tough spot at 2 in the morning. No alternatives offered. No goodwill. Just “policy.”
Worse, the hotel and corporate continue to refuse any refund even though we received nothing for the booking. Paid for a room we were denied. Best Western claims to cater to travelers and families — this experience proves otherwise. Cold, rigid, and indifferent when it mattered most. This seems to be the common review when it comes to most people’s interactions with this staff and management. Sad reputation for people in the hospitality business.
If you’re traveling with kids or arriving late, stay far away. This property and the brand failed us completely.
I hope people read these reviews and warnings and don’t make the same mistake I made.
Do not stay here!!! manager was extremely rude, disrespectful and just plain awful. Charged multiple extra fees for early check in, extra person, ect. Manager threatened to call the cops because we had three people (one couple and friend in a 2 bed room) refused to let us back into the room and stated my wife would need to find her own room and was not allowed! I have NEVER in all our years of traveling had a hotel experience as horrible as this. Beware of the place and keep driving!
WORST hotel experience I have EVER had!! I was traveling to a motorcycle rally with my husband and friend (the friend booked the room). We were sharing a room with 2 beds (3 people total). We arrived first. They charged $25 for early check in. My husband had to give his license and sign papers as the “guest”. We were let in the room, freshened up after our long travel, and left for the rally. Since we had several cocktails at the rally, my husband and I decided to stay at the rally (responsible for us not to drink and drive). Our friend doesn’t drink and went back to the hotel. The next morning, we went back to the hotel and the manager was extremely rude, confrontational, and argumentative! She would not let us in the room stating repeatedly “this is not a truck stop! Go somewhere else to shower.” She stated only 2 people were on the check in and I would not be allowed to enter the room unless we paid an additional $25. She wouldn’t even allow me to speak. She wanted a copy of my license. When I said I would just grab my things and go, she still won’t allow me in the room stating “you could steal (my friend’s) belongs. She threatened to call the police. We had to get my friend on the phone (since he booked the room) to square this away. He was pissed!! We paid the $25, grabbed our stuff, and left! For a manager, she has no customer service skills or professionalism. DO NOT STAY HERE! Read all the horrible reviews!
I booked this property through Booking.com and experienced significant issues both before arrival and on the night of my rescheduled stay.
Initially, I contacted the hotel directly to request a date change due to a severe winter storm and illness, as traveling would not have been safe. I spoke with a manager, who stated there was nothing the hotel could do because the reservation was booked through Booking.com. During the call, the manager repeatedly advised that guests should not book through third-party sites, stating that the hotel “makes peanuts” when reservations are not booked directly. I had difficulty responding or explaining my situation, as the manager spoke at length without allowing much opportunity for dialogue. She also stated that if I arrived while sick, I would be turned away from the property, despite the fact that my call was specifically intended to prevent that situation and handle things responsibly in advance.
After Booking.com later contacted the hotel on my behalf, I was informed that the manager told them I had been extremely rude and had hung up on her. This was not accurate. I did not hang up, nor was I rude, and this mischaracterization was concerning.
While Booking.com eventually succeeded in moving the reservation to a later date, the issues continued during the rescheduled stay. When I arrived at the hotel on Saturday night, the front desk confirmed they had the email confirmation of my reservation but stated it was not in their system. The front desk contacted the manager, who was out of the country, and I was again told there was nothing the hotel could do and that I would need to contact Booking.com.
I then contacted Booking.com, who stated they needed to speak directly with the hotel. For over an hour, I sat in the lobby while the front desk, the manager, and Booking.com spoke back and forth by phone. Ultimately, I was told the only option was to cancel my reservation and repurchase it. The manager stated I could rebook at the
Nothing
Everything
Conveniently located near Mt. Gilead State Park. Checkin was time consuming. Had made my reservation on Expedia. Hotel was clean but dated. Another blanket for bed would have been welcomed. Breakfast was good with standard options.
The general manager is rude, argumentative, and unpleasant. The hotel has no elevator, the rooms smell musty, and the free breakfast is not worth the price--coffee is unpalatable, and warmer eggs and bacon looked greasy and unfit for human consumption.
When we arrived, the manager tried to charge us for early check-in (20 minutes prior to normal check-in!). Then we learned we were double billed for the room, b/c my wife booked prior to me. The manager said it was "your problem," and refused to address my issue, preferring to yell at me for my bad review.
Don't waste your time. Sleeping in our car would have been preferable.
Location, condition of hotel, clean, nice
Just a bit too expensive
Staff was friendly - room was clean and ac was on upon arrival. Breakfast was decent.
The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the shower curtain did nothing to keep the water in the shower. The bathroom fan blew the curtain, so all the water went onto the floor, creating a mess, and the water pressure was so hard it actually hurt to stand under it for any longer than a few seconds.
We were on the first floor, and the room above was very loud - not that the people were loud, but we could hear every footstep and the door opening and closing throughout our stay.
Plain and Simple, do not stay here. They charged our card extra fees for checking in a little early without informing us they were going to do so. If that was the case, I would have gone and got a cup of coffee and come back but they never said a word and charge showed on our credit card. It was also never mentioned when we made the reservation Three messages in and no return call from the manager and nobody else in the place will help you. So far, we have been the manager was in a meeting, shopping and not in at the time we were told call.
Probably the worst customer service ever. Again, do not stay here unless you want extra charges put on your card.
Decent breakfast, great coffee, Staff friendly and helpful.
