Not a five star hotel.
Pros:

The hotel claims to be a five star hotel, but it is far from it. The room was dusty, tv didn’t work on the first night, the rooms have seen better days as well, suffering from
Scratches on the walls, floors and counters. Even the towels seem to be the same used at your average Courtyard. Finally, room service from the night before was left in the room even after they cleaned the room the next day. The attention to detail and service was sorely lacking.

It delivers as promised
Pros:

Wow, what a hotel. Nothing short of exceptional. Flawless stay.

The location was perfect for us and close all things and places we needed to be.

From the moment you arrive, you're immersed in a warm and modern aesthetic environment. Modern luxury done right.

The room was well appointed and impeccably maintained, offering a quiet retreat from the bustling bar scene downstairs with an incredible view overlooking the park.

What truly make this hotel exceptional is its staff. From the moment I checked I knew I was going to like this place. The staff are very professional but with a genuine caring warmth. Something rare, especially for a large luxury hotel in NYC. They're all exceptional; from the general manger to the front desk to the room attendants, all made this stay truly wonderful.

I look forward to my next stay.

Most gorgeous suites
Pros:

Went for a a winter vacation in New York City to see the Rockefeller and broadways shows. This hotel is very comfortable and has great vibes.

Id say the best thing that happened to us was a complimentary upgrade to one of the most expensive flatiron suites facing the beautiful empire state building. The room that we got is truly gorgeous. Thank you to the fron desk Mr. Eli for the generous upgrade. For the record i am only a platinum.

Would stay here again 10/10!

Ok not great
Pros:

We had three rooms to include a suite and the experience was only average . Pros: rooms were modern and clean, beds great, bar and bartender were superb .location great. Cons : no coffee maker, restaurant is average and our server seemed annoyed both days we dined. Hotel provided no upgrade despite a lot of online availability and Platinum Marriott status . One room was not ready until close to 5pm and no outreach from the front desk for an explanation. Don’t expect much of a holiday experience/decor if coming for the holidays.

Scammy description of room views
Pros:

This is wha the hotel considers a “Deluxe Empire / Madison view” room. 🤷‍♂️

The hotel is showing its age. Stained rugs, all surfaces badly worn and not maintained.

Heater sounded like a helicopter all night.

Front desk staff very good.

Disappointing service and cleanliness.
Pros:

Had stayed at the Edition twice before back before the Pandemic - this was my first time back since. It has slipped since then, and I doubt I will revisit. Service is lackluster. I checked in at 6pm and was given the key to my room (check-in staff seemed bored and unfriendly). Went to my room and the maid was still cleaning it. There was no communication between the front desk and maid service to see if the room actually was ready. When we got into the room, the maid had left her cleaning rags, the sink was full of water and suds/soap residue. Further, when you lifted the bottles of shampoo in the shower, there were deep piles of soap scum and hair 🤮. The room had no coffee maker and room service doesn’t start before 7, so there was no way to get an early cup of coffee unless you ask for a coffee maker to be delivered.
At this price point, service should be exceptional and cleanliness should be the norm.

Excellent luxury hotel in the heart of Manhattan
Pros:

Stayed 1 night in early Nov with an NUA applied. Was upgraded to a Loft Suite which was large (by NYC standards) with nice tall ceilings. Corner room overlooked Madison Sq Park and south to lower Manhattan. Bathroom/shower was beautiful with the usual Le Labo amenities. Loved the dining/work desk.

Team also sent Prosecco and a cake as a birthday treat, which was a nice touch.

Great stay in my favorite area of town. Will return for sure!

Another almost flawless stay
Pros:

My three night weekend stay at the New York EDITION was pretty flawless. While my NUAs were declined, they still graciously pre-upgraded me a few days before arrival to a studio loft king corner room with Madison Square Park and Madison Avenue views. Watching the fireworks on Saturday night was a very pleasant surprise from the 17th floor.
#newyorkcity #edition #newyorkedition #upgrade #prearrivalupgrade #airconbliss

The hotel also had to be pretty full, since nothing but entry level rooms were available to book online during my stay. That Ambassador upgrade value was about $3000 alone.
#AmbassadorStatusMatters

The studio loft room was extremely comfortable, and the air con held easily to 61-63 F for my entire stay. Heavenly.

The hotel had a lovely welcome amenity waiting for me with NY cheesecake and some wine, meats and cheeses, as well as extra cartons of water as requested in my #prearrivalchecklist sent by Ambassador. They even brought a fan despite not being able to promise one, though I never needed it.

WiFi was a fantastic 113 Mbps up and down. Shower pressure was great. The light switch placement in the bathroom may be the only fault I could find with the room. That and the more translucent black out shades. But I always bring an eye mask to be safe.

Drinks in the lobby bar were fantastic. The hosts made sure to find us seats at a table I requested or at the bar.

Brunch at the Clocktower restaurant was quite nice, if a little warm for me. But I survived.

In room dining breakfast was also fantastic. The salmon bagel wasn’t quite as good as I remembered, but their bagel sandwich is my new favorite.

Whenever the St Regis is too pricey, this EDITION always saves the day for me. It’s also so close to the many great restaurants at which I dined (1* Cote, 1* Rezdora, and Cafe Carmellini all were within 5-10 min walk, and 2* Atera was an easy 15 min taxi.)

I can’t wait to return. Always an amazing second choice for me in Manhattan to the St Regis, but a shockingly close second choice.

Good but not great
Pros:

My wife and I are big fans of the Edition hotel brand and were very excited for an overnight staycation at the New York Edition.

The front desk staff was exceptional. The staff member we dealt with was very friendly, helpful, and greeted us by name each time he saw us. He helped expedite the cleaning of our room when we arrived and retrieved coffee for us when we were checking out, even after service was over.

The property itself felt a little small (which was not surprising in New York) and we found the décor to be nice but slightly below the standards we've seen at other Edition hotels. As a Marriott Titanium with lifetime status we received a small room upgrade. The upgraded room wasn't tiny but was broken up into four oddly configured spaces making it feel small. It had a modest sized entryway and bathroom, a slightly small bedroom with sitting area, and a very large dark closet that wasn't very useable. There was only one window and lighting in the room wasn't great. The décor was underwhelming and some of the furniture was warn.

The bar staff was average. Neither the bar tender nor the waitress were very talkative but they got us our drinks and food in a reasonable amount of time.

The only issue we had was with the valet. When we were leaving they informed us there were two cars ahead of us. After waiting 30 minutes I inquired and was told we were next. After another 15 minutes and seeing that my car hadn't moved, I inquired again and was directed to the manager. The manager was dismissive and said I should have read the fine print on the ticket which stated it could take up to an hour. At a property like the Edition I don't expect to be redirected to fine print by a manager. A valet with proper hospitality training should have advised us that they were backed up and it could take up to an hour. I don't expect to wait that long at a higher end hotel like the Edition, especially when spending around $100 per night for parking, but had we known we could have gotten breakfast instead of waiting around in the lobby getting frustrated.

Above and beyond service 🩵
Pros:

Joey from the Housekeeping department took such good care of my friends and I during our stay. He made sure we never went without, no matter how late we had a request. Francisco was a smiling face at the door throughout our two week stay, and by the end of the trip, he felt like family. I was blown away by the team members going above and beyond, consistently and without hesitation. Truly never felt so special, and I’ll never stay anywhere but the Edition from now on. Thanks again!!

Our favorite hotel in the City
Pros:

We’ve been staying at The EDITION New York since it opened, and it continues to be our absolute favorite in the city. The staff is genuine, attentive, professional, and always warm. The General Manager runs an exceptional team that makes every visit feel effortless and personal. The location couldn’t be more perfect—close to everything yet somehow feels like a serene escape from the city bustle. Every stay reminds us why we keep coming back. Truly one of New York’s best.

Five Star Weekend at the New York Edition!
Pros:

My husband and I just enjoyed a wonderful weekend at The New York Edition, and it exceeded our expectations. This was our first time staying at this hotel, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish.

The location was perfect for our itinerary. We stayed in a loft suite with spectacular views overlooking Madison Square Park and Fifth Avenue. This was one of the largest hotel rooms I’ve ever had in New York City. The suite was quiet and impeccably clean, featuring an enormous bathroom and an incredibly comfortable bed (and pillows)!

The staff were exceptional—attentive, kind, and thoughtful. They made sure we had everything we needed, even stocking our room with our favorite amenities and beverages.

Most memorable of all was our experience with Diego, a member of the bell services team. Upon our arrival, my husband and Diego struck up a conversation about soccer. Diego, from Argentina, and my husband, from Portugal, bonded instantly over their shared passion for fútbol — and yes, they even dove into the classic Messi vs. Ronaldo discussion.

Throughout the weekend, Diego went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of. He greeted us warmly each time we passed through the lobby, checked in to ensure we had everything we needed, and even arranged our car delivery the day before departure so we wouldn’t get caught in parade traffic. On Sunday morning, our car was already waiting out front before we could even call for it.

To our great surprise, as we prepared to leave, we discovered an incredibly thoughtful gift waiting for us in the car — two cans of sardines packed in Portuguese olive oil, each marked with our birth year, along with personalized gifts for each of us. We were genuinely touched and amazed by such kindness. We are deeply grateful to Diego, who went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. His generosity, warmth, and personal touches made us feel truly special. A very heartfelt thank you to him!

Experiences like this are what make a trip truly memorable. We’ve been fortunate to stay at other Edition properties around the world, and we will continue to remain very loyal guest.

Great choice for tourists or business travelers seeking chic but low key experience.
Pros:

Perfect choice if you’re a minimalist and enjoy a chic calm aesthetic. Popular lobby with a DJ and great cocktails. Right next to the Madison Square Park, very walkable and good subway access. Rooms are very white and wooden tones, simple but tranquil and a nice size for New York. Comfy beds and robes. Would definitely return.

Typical Marriott quality - not a 5 star room
Pros:

Serviceable hotel … but a typical Marriott - not even close to a 5 star hotel. Different vibe with lounge and restaurant - club-like and hip - but room is no better than an average Marriott. Room was very tired and worn, Black baseboards, trim, doors, nightstand showed all the streaks, dust and finger/palm prints when you first walk in. Lots of nicks and cracks in bathroom and furniture. There is a minimalist decor, which maybe lends to it feeling like a standard Marriott and not high-end. Nothing luxury about it for the price. Should be priced like a 4 star. Upsides - good location and staff were nice.
