A mixed bag. We appreciated the hotel giving us a room on a high floor with a decent view. And breakfast in Geraldine's was pretty sublime.
Other issues though distracted from our ability to have a stress free getaway. We made reservations online which showed confirmed at the end of the process. But when we called the hotel they said we had no reservation. The internal tech issue took a full day to resolve.
The valet service ($62 a night) was a mess. Car would arrive at a completely different location than where they told us to wait for it. Once they could not find our car at all, making us 15 minutes late for our dinner reservation.
Then there was the bill, which inexplicably contains multiple small tax amounts on the same day for the same tax.
All that, plus a steady torrent of unwanted texts from the hotel (until I insisted they turn them off) made this a less than great stay.
Lobby and staff
Pool area closed; construction outside the hotel everywhere
Hotel theme with record player and the location.
Very clean, staff was nice
Check in process, check in was at 4 I requested early check in for 3, I understand that it was based on availability, so that’s not the issue. I arrived at 3:15 and the room was not ready, and at 4:10 the room was finally ready.
Our room was lovely and well appointed. We had several meals in the hotel and each one was quite good! Even the downstairs hotel bartender was so very personable and helpful! He also made a wonderful cocktail!
Geraldine's
Everything, shitty location, expensive parking, uncomfortable bed, shitty shower with no door
The staff was really nice and the hotel has great drinks.
Perfect hotel. Amazing view of the river with bars and restaurants round the corner. All staff including the valet were very friendly and kind. Safe place to stay
Great staff especially on reception & valet, location, Geraldine’s. Room was superb, overlooking Rainey street.
The valet parking is a bit steep, but it’s common for downtown. Car was brought quickly every time.
Mario helped get our belongings to our suite. Very personable, respectful and welcoming! Great service all around; from valet, checking in and taking us up to our gorgeous room.
The Hotel Van Zandt was wonderful! Room was very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The restaurant was great--we had two meals there and enjoyed both.
Service was helpful and pleasant throughout. Keegan on the front desk was a standout. We were lucky to meet him on arrival, and he had wonderful suggestions for stores, sights, meals on the go, etc. Very gracious and knowledgeable.
The location is also prime. Close to the lake and walking distance from shops and restaurants. I highly recommend the Van Zandt.
