Everything, was a dump.
Staff are excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Beautiful scenery all around the hotel. Walks direct from the hotel. Short easy walk to see red squirrels. Lovely building inside. Good room with plenty of hot water. Good breakfast. Excellent evening meals..
FREE parking. Lift to all floors.
Nothing.
The food was shite
Staff and food quality
Mooie kamer, vriendelijk oersoneel, lekker diner.
Ligt afgelegen van Shap. Wij wandelden het coast to coast pad, dan is het behoorlijk afgelegen. Van te vorwen afspreken, dat ze je komen ophalen
Loved the tranqjility
The hotel is a lovely quiet location just off the M6.
The hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. The bedrooms are grimy from age and wear, the bathroom is beyond tired and the floor is sticky and discoloured. I didn’t want to use the bathroom at all! The breakfast was similarly disappointing, we left as soon as possible.
Comfortable, super decor, helpful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Great evening meal and breakfast, plus value for money. We’ve made this part of our holiday when going to Scotland. Great place to stay
Nothing
Good rooms, Friendly staff, Art Deco
Quiz, while we were having Dinner - but it just added to the 'quirkiness' if Shap Spa!
Very characterful hotel, with lovely woodlands. Great breakfast, comfortable room. Thank goodness you have kept the original reception area and rooms! Didn't spot any red squirrels so we will have to come back again! Plenty of birds, and lovely to hear the cuckoo.
The Staff of Jamal and Clyde were exceptional. Jamal picked us up in Shap after a long day hiking coast to coast from Patterdale. Breakfast was plentiful. Clyde helped to secure taxi out. Very grateful.
Pretty far out of town. Caters to coach buses of tourists enjoying the lakes district.
Friendly staff. Comfortable room (if a little cramped). Quiet. Convenient parking. Good dog walking areas. At the time of booking there were no double rooms available, but on arrival we asked and were transferred to a double.
Having been told the hotel was very busy and that we would need to book for the restaurant, it turned out there were 5 other tables occupied and within 20 minutes we were the only ones in the dining room. No drinks orders from the table and there was nobody at the bar. A long wait for service and the drinks had to be paid for separately.
All the staff were lovely & friendly, made to feel very welcome. The breakfast & evening meal was very nice.We loved the look & music it was like going back in time.Would defo stay again if in the area.
The rain we had during the night was bouncing off the window ledge, room 105 ,there must have been a problem with the guttering, I mentioned it to the manager who is a credit to the hotel,on the morning & he said i should have told him but as it was during the night ,I didn't know, but apart from that we had a lovely stay.
Whole hotel is Super Clean
Food is amazing
Room was big, bright with a 4 poster bed
Fantastic nature walks right outside the hotel (with red squirrels)
Very professional & friendly staff
Some of the guests, a group of contractors from the nearby motorway roadworks were staying there. They were loud, foul mouthed & obnoxious towards the hotel staff, who handled it well with patience & politeness.
Long ride on motorbikes to the hotel. Perfect stop over for our journey just off A6 or M6. Good big parking area, secure and safe. Lovely welcome by reception and bar staff as we needed a pint sitting outside in the evening sun. Nice twin room with good shower and comfy beds. Evening meal was good value and nice choice of food with good service. Good night's kip followed by an excellent breakfast. Hotel has a good atmosphere and for a huge Victorian type hotel nice decor. Will definitely stay again , hopefully soon.
Having to leave, wish we stayed another night.
