Expensive and poor value.
Pros:

Central location with easy access to areas of interest such as The Castle and St Giles Cathedral and Usher Hall. Staff were friendly but mainly foreign which caused some difficulty when reporting problems with the accomodation

Cons:

The room was comfortable with a small storage space for two nights. The lights from the TV and Aircon were intrusive and couldnt be switched off at night so kept us awake. Eventually we covered up the lights with Post-it notes.
The Shower head didnt fit properly in the holder and was dangerous for my wife, who had to wash at the hand basin.The shower cubicle base was slippery and there were no safety rails in the shower. The long curtain in the bedroom was impossible to close completely and caused light disturbance at night. The two other lights were possible to obscure as already stated.
The room itself was quiet and the there were no corridor noises. The Room was properly cleaned.
The Reception area was busy most of the day as it appeared that the hotel was a stopping point for touring coach groups. We spent most of the time out of the hotel as the weather was good. There did not appear to be any quiet areas for residents apart from the bedrooms.

Clean standard hotel
Pros:

Clean rooms, location was about a 15 min walk to centre so ok if you’re happy to walk a bit. Spacious rooms.

Could have been good but seemed a lean staff

Well we didn’t have 3 towels when we had 3 guests booked and had to ask for the towels. They were eventually available. We decided due to the weather to eat in the hotel restaurant- it took over 20 minutes for our order to be taken then we had to wait over an hour for our meals - when our mains arrived we needed to remind the staff that we were still waiting for our entree and rather than asking us if we would like to cancel since we already had our mains she said she would check didn’t come back to our table until she was delivering us the entrees after we had finished our mains and were ready to go back to our room. They also didn’t have much available for the children’s menu either. The restaurant was not busy on this night so it seemed unusual that we needed to constantly follow up and these mistakes happening.
